To his credit, despite the homer he also had 3 strike outs that inning and was throwing some pretty good stuff

Maybe so, but in this day and age that grabbing his jersey and shove could end up bad for the coach also. You never know what will go viral and ruin your life these days, even if it seems insignificant at the time.
The guy sending him the other way did the right thing to defuse the situation.
