Not a flame. Truly cannot understand how, with us only losing two players, the Defense could look so different.
Greedy- Stingley: a wash
White- he was our first half of Bama last year, and we held our own.
So what Is the deal

Zero pass rush on the qb. Absolutely none.

We started in the second half and look what happened.

#2 in the country, just dropped over 40 on the best defense we will face all year. we have a Heisman finalist at qb and yet people still bitch... I'm not amazed anymore but damn, do better.

Delpit has regressed. Last year he looked like the second coming of TM7 at times. And White's leadership is sorely missed.

Usually needed DWhite to blitz to get pressure ... and when he did, there was a very high probability that he was going to get pressure on the QB.

Are you forgetting that Devin White was one of the best players in LSU history?

It's a bit disingenuous to refer to him as just another loss, as if he were just a depth type of player.

Devin white was very good both in his individual play and as a field general. We have looked lost at time and it feels like that has somethign to do with it.

But honestly we have had 2 bad game plans.

We challenged Trask and Ehlinger to throw on is and they did

and both times we waited too long to dial up the pressure.

We are not getting much of a push out of our front 4, and we need to start getting more creative bringing blitzes

Delpit is playing more center field than he did last year. I think that is probably out of necessity as we don't trust any other safety back there.

Not bitching. Asking a question. There is a difference. Do you REALLY think that this years Defense is par with last years?

White's leadership was exceptional. Missing that and his closing speed are massive losses.

No, did we lose the best player from the middle of our defense last year, yes. Mystery solved.

All a setup for Bama and we beat them by 40? Maybe the staff is so confident in our offense and they know we can win this way, that they are intentionally playing soft zone and only bringing pressure when absolutely necessary to secure the victory

Man, I think you are missing the point. We realize that we have a Heisman QB, we realize we have one of the top offenses in the country. We also realize to win a championship we need our defense to perform better. He is simply stating that it’s odd that our defense is under performing after only losing two starters from last year.

Coming into the season we thought we knew we had a great defense and the questions would be surrounding the offense. It’s the opposite at this point.

We lost Battle from last year and the guy that played behind him...
Additionally, having Battle back there enabled us to play Stevens at a different position and allowed us to be aggressive with Delpit.

White was literally the best ILBr in the country so that matters to whether you want to believe it or not.

We are also trying to change (a little) the style of play for our front 7. Most recently we have prepared to stop the run, which we can do when we really want to. However, we are slowly trying to change into an attacking front 7 which means we need a slightly different kind of personnel in a spot or two. Hopefully we get those types and it enables us to be a little more individually explosive at the LOS.

Short answer is.... you shouldn’t discount what Battle allowed us to do, not what White was able to on the field.

Think we found something in the 2nd half lastnight. Just have to be a more attacking defense and bring pressure more. Marcel Brooks is a PLAYER. We’re honestly just missing a few more DB’s... Todd Harris and Kelvin Joseph (sigh) would help a ton right now.
