Spread the darn field and let him throw and mix in some runs and live with the miscues. We have to open it up

They are not hiding Etling. They are trying to keep him alive by hiding the OL.

I agree. In addition, our receivers don't get separation and when they do "E" doesn't see them. He seems to zero in his primary receiver and if he is covered he either doesn't see the rest of the field and doesn't have the elusiveness to buy time to connect.

In order to open up an offense you have to trust the QB and not mask it around the QBs weakness. That loss last night was not on the QB it was on the entire program. They just took a good old arse whopping no if ands or nors about it period.

Not true. You hide a bad o-line with screens and quick passes. You can't hide an o-line on obvious passing downs, with a 7 step drop.

Etling is scared to throw an INT.

Is it me or do we line up in tighter formations than expected? Even when running I wish we'd get more spacing.

They were pulling the safeties up in run support for most of the first three quarters. I really don't understand why we did take some shots with the play action bomb. Instead we did the same thing as when Les was here and run into the teeth of the defense.

If they don't trust Etling to throw the ball, we should throw in the towel and start grooming Brennan for next year. If they do trust Etling, they need to balance out the offense and mix things up.

Etling is not an SEC-level QB.....he might be OK at Purdue, but not at LSU.....SEC teams are going to stack the line and dare us to throw....I doubt that we can....

So you are telling me that they were not trying to hide the OL by staying in max protect the entire first half and trying to help them with multiple TEs and backs? There was a reason there were only two WRs on the field most of the time.

There is the same issue as last season. Long passes take time to develop. He didn't have time. He had so much traffic at the LoS the passing lanes were lost. Screens won't work when your line can't block.

I'm absolutely tired of the play action bombs design some plays out the shotgun and let the receivers try to win that's the only way they will get better

bullshite. They're getting him killed because he's gotta wait 4 seconds for a deep route concept to open up. Where's the hitches? Screens? Slants? RPO's. Hell Canada is the King of the Shovel and we haven't seen 1 yet.

I'm saying that the proper way to protect a weak offensive line is shotgun, with short passes and screens. Who knows what the coaches were thinking or if they were thinking? We only passed on obvious passing downs with 5 to 7 step drops, until the game was out of hand. The play calling suggested that they had full confidence in the protection that was assigned.
