Those are definately tough games and we could easily lose more than two games. Optimism is hope for the best and JJ gives us an excellent chance to win games. He was a winner at Destrehan and he handle himself exceptionally well last year considering the pressure he had of coming into the last two games under the watchful eye of critical tiger fans like yourself.

since rouge is a radio guy, he's the only one that can be realistic, duh.

optimism is great, but bitching and moaning when unrealistic expectations are not met is what tends to drive people like me and lester earl crazy

many of us would consider a very overrated GT squad.

Oh? Their offense was gimmicky and didn't have the talent to score on a well prepared talented D, but their defense...

Check the box scores and stats from last year, GT's D, at WORST was very solid. Georgia scored on them, but that was in Athens, and still less than Georgia scored in Baton Rouge. And this solid to very good defense was playing in their hometown against LSU.

So don't pretend like JJ driving his team at will in the 1st half against that GT D in Atlanta means absolutely nothing.

his numbers werent mind boggling against GT by any means, but i think his poise in such a big game was a little ahead of what you'd expect for a true freshman...he didnt panic, he made extraordinary athletic plays and he controlled the tempo

it was a whole different ballgame than what i saw vs Arkansas, esp in that Arky 4th qt

i put little more stock in the GT game due to preparation time and getting starting reps for a significant amount of time

that is not to say that i expect him to be like this every game or even most...but at least now i know that he has the ability to control the game against a quality opponent, without a shadow of a doubt we know its there

He checked off and hit wide open recivers instead of forcing throws or throwing it away because one guy wasn't open. Thats enough for a true freshman to recieve some optimism

This has always been a huge problem for me with the internet/talk radio brigade also.

But in general, I am gearing myself for a 9-3 type of season and have no reason to feel other wise. We have the players and coaches to expect this kind of success right now.

I too think that fans have blown JJ outta proportion, I may be wrong but I feel that he doesn't have the "it" factor.

But I realize that the fans will go batshit crazy if CLM puts in Lee. I hope its better but I don't see this team going anymore than 8-4.

so we agree that Russell Shepard should start, because when it comes to that "it" factor,
Shep definitely has "it"

The only way we lose 4 games is if the defense struggles again and I think they won't. If they are fixed we at least split those 4 games

Optimistic because we were in and should have won all but the UF and OM game. Despite JL, we were in those games! Should have been 9-3 at worst. With another year of experience, you think JJ will not be even better? 9-3 is very realistic.

Unlike some miserable people, I LIKE being optimistic! 9-3 and hoping for 10-2. Schedule is just too tough.

Well, JJ doesn't play defense, but I have no complaints with LSU putting up 30 and 38 points, respectively in the two games he started.

Beat one of those three but lose to someone else.

I just dont have the confidence I've had in years past. I think those lower rated classes in the first couple of years under Miles comes back and haunts.

But I must say, I am happy to hear the coaches seem to be more on the teams arse this year, I think control was lost last year for awhile. (yeah I know, thanks Capt Obvious)

Based on Rouge's logic......which I neither agree or disagree with.....Alabama and Georgia are in the same boat. What have their QB's done?

We don't have one......I don't think Shepard is the answer either. Flynn had it, Russell, his last season had it, Davey.
