We can talk about baker’s initial game plan but my question is

Why did he go back to the soft zone when we came back and tied the game 24-24? Being aggressive, blitzing and playing man spearheaded the comeback and when we finally came back he goes into a shell and plays soft coverage ? I just don’t understand why was baker so fixated on that being the base defense against a qb like Trinidad.

He didn't want to give up a big play after tying the game.

I think because of how much time was left, we were playing to hold them to a field goal. Not saying I agree with doing that given how badly Chambliss was torching that soft zone, but with the offense rolling how it was, holding them to a field goal would have put us in a great spot with 6 minutes remaining.
I think we should have played them more straight up the entire way, but I somewhat follow the thought process with that even though I disagree with it.

I'll say it. It was a boneheaded strategy. So you're willing to give up a 7 minute touchdown drive to lose the game vs a chance to get a three and out. or a big play touchdown that would leave time on the clock for us to mount a comeback. Strategy wise, the approach he took made no sense.
