What did I make up? We blitzed almost every 3rd down? Washington had a good blocking scheme, and we're probably still adjusting to the new coordinator. You're just a moron upset at your own lack of knowledge when it comes to football. It's probably a stretch to think you know the difference in cover 2 and cover 3.

People need to realize that blitzes can be shitty as well
yea the 2nd TD pass to Toliver came when Wash sent their corner, JJ recognized it immediately and made a good throw.

It happens sometimes, but LSU thrived on having an aggressive, attacking D. This soft shite aint getting it done

That could be it but I'd prefer to think highly of our guys.

Whats crazy is how EVERYONE thinks that THEY watched film of us and just schemed so well. Did they watch film of UT and figure out what our Defense would look like?
.....
If so, why did they NOT watch film of USC to see what their Defense and Offense would be doing?

We got outplayed but luckily our superior talent overcame their superior coaching. Say what you will but this defense played as terrible as last years and have MANY areas to improve upon.
Oh yeah, and Chad Jones looked horrendous at tackling! Seemed as if Patrick Peterson was the only guy on defense.

I am with those that prefer Jefferson over Lee but they will have to uncuff the kid and allow more pass plays downfield or we are in SERIOUS trouble. We better be able to stretch the field against powerful, fast SEC defenses.

For some reason, when I read this I envisioned Chaviz coming on a blitz ... made me LOL.

Is blitzing Harry COleman and dropping Rahim Alem into coverage smart?

In retrospect, it is probably better than an all out blitz and dropping Pep Levingston into coverage (which is what happened on the screen pass in the 1st Quarter). We can question certain calls all we want, but the fact is, any blitz is a calculated risk ... it's a chess match that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

I'm happy that LSU won, but for an upper echelon team, Did we have to look like Whatsamatta U.? Some younger posters may not get that reference..........

But our fan base thinks that it's impossible to have a bad play if you blitz. And that if you give up a bunch of yards you didn't blitz enough.

Please go back and watch the film we brought at least an LB on almost every 3rd down. I'm about to watch the 2nd half.
Thats true, but the 3rd down blitzes were doomed from the start, when the CBs are 8-10 yds off of the receiver.

Our blitzes will improve, but we need more pressure with our four lineman.

Just re-watched the game. We rushed 4 or 5 probably 95% of the time. And the 5th guy was almost always a delayed, slow Riley or Cutrera running right into the first blocker they saw and not even getting more than 1 yard behind the line of scrimmage by the time the ball was thrown. Thats pretty exotic, how do these crazy fans want more than that?!!!!

from what I understand, we never even blitzed as many as 6 once.

In my opinion, we need to blitz at least 6 to have a decent shot at getting to the QB, and we should tend to blitz at least 6 on every third and long.

on the 3rd and 12 screen play for 50 yards, we rushed 7 i believe and dropped possibly the slowest player in NCAA football, Pep Levingston, to have him cover the RB. Truly brilliant scheming.

you have to give it to washington though, that was just bad luck for LSU, good playcall by washington, although I would've rathered see Alem instead of Levingston drop into coverage

neither of them ever needs to drop in coverage. Alem is our only pass rusher and he was dropping back half the time so Perry Riley could blitz and not get within 10 yards of the QB.
