But our fan base thinks that it's impossible to have a bad play if you blitz. And that if you give up a bunch of yards you didn't blitz enough.

Please go back and watch the film we brought at least an LB on almost every 3rd down. I'm about to watch the 2nd half.

you're right. but, the all out blitz that chavis sent on the first washington series is what people are expecting. I think that he was gun-shy after that.

bringing a 5th guy is NOT a blitz.

Yeah, that first all out blitz was one of those calls where there is pretty much only one play that will beat that and its the screen, which they hit perfectly. You gamble when you blitz, we gambled and lost that time. I think our D will be ok. And yes, its usually the punks that dont know shite about football that want to blitz every play and pass every play (or give it to #8 every play at LSU).

lol couldn't agree more. yeah we got burnt bad on that blitz, and that may have contributed to the less frequent blitzing, but anyone who expects us to blitz 2 or more EVERY 3rd down is a dumbass. You blitz the house on 3rd down a lot, especially in game 1, you're going to have a lot of teams calling up screens on 3rd down that will bite you in the arse later in the season.

I believe he's trying to act like a badass because a technical definition of "blitz" is sending more rushers than blockers. But EVERYONE in conversation refers to sending a non-d-lineman as a blitz.

If you don't like what a blitz is, take it up with someone else.

The definition of a blitz is sending someone who does not usually rush. LB's don't usually rush, and we sent one almost every play.

sending a LB may technically be a blitz, but having 4 DL's and a LB versus 5 O-line isnt really giving them too much to handle. And blitzing on 3rd and 12 is stupid anyways

I'm willing to bet you're another arm chair QB fan who's never played football in your life.

The blitzes were just poorly designed and the blitzer gave it away early and Locker read it and threw to that blitzer's man.

Hawkins made this mistake SEVERAL times which cost us. If they can disguise them better, run more fake blitzes, they will be fine. LSU just thought they'd overwhelm UW, and got caught with their collective pants down when UW showed up firing.

People need to realize that blitzes can be shitty as well.

The game winning TD against Arky last year was one of many examples for that. And as the OP said, we unfortunately had about 10 more examples of that in the first half against UW.

You know Washington had all summer to prepare picking up Chavis's blitzing styles. They probably watched a lot of film and drew up a blocking scheme that worked pretty well. It's not like Sark is a bonehead when it comes to offense.

ah, so this thread is for people who "know their shite", defined as making things up as they go along in order to make a bullshite point look more relevant.

Carry on then.
