at this point in time, I see it as:
1 : Jefferson
1a: Shepard (in a rotating run package setup, see RP '07)
2 : Lee (standard QB2, depending on how Shepard shakes out)
3 : Hatch (I like him, but doubtful to regain the reigns barring lots of injuries)
4 : Garrett (redshirt)
Now, obviously lots of things can change over the spring - but this is my best guess based on what we know now.
I agree too, that at some point, we will need Lee. The kid had a rough year, no doubt, but he's not done yet and I haven't given up on him. He showed he has the skills in flashes. As a pocket passer, he will get over the hump when he is able to consistently make defenses pay for stacking the box and blitzing. It's pretty clear he was thrown to the fire before having that capability. He may be a statue, but statues can be brilliant quarterbacks after the growing pains.

i have it from a pretty good source that if JJ had the game that he did, JL would most likly leave. he wouldn't even go to classs some this year cause the kids were so hard on him. he's as good as gone.

we'll need him, ill almost bet it

I feel so sorry for JL. Maybe he should go to Northwestern with Peveto: he could play right away, and regain some confidence.
That boy NEVER offered up any excuses, and for this he should be admired. It's hard sometimes to remember that these are kids, and have the same feelings as everyone else...bashing him on campus is just plain WRONG!!! I think this guy deserves a clean slate either here or somewhere else. Who knows, the real JL might just wind up being the guy that won the Auburn game.

Based on the way JJ played vs. GT, I would be shocked if Lee does not ask for a transfer! He did not even get to play in the 4th quarter with a five TD lead and the game safely won. I could see him going to a school like Texas State or maybe joining Peveto at Northwestern!

Competition level among the jobs will improve team play. Yes we are going to need Lee for team improvement. It might kindle a fire under him to become even better.

he won't be #2 coming out of the Spring, RS will
You folks seem to be damn confident about a high school kid who would probably be committed to Texas except for the fact they told him he simply isn't good enough to play QB!
JJ will be #1 next year, JL will be the primary back-up, and RS will be a gimmick QB taking 5-6 snaps per game ... CG will likely red-shirt.

I think he transfers and I think LM knows ,,,,thus, no playing time with a 35 point lead.

After this season, Lee may enjoy the backup role. I honestly don't see him transferring.
I do believe he is a good BACKUP to have......say #3 QB.

then explain no playing time with a 35 point lead. something's not right.

As a Doug Planchard role?

in case people have forgotten, we needed three quarterbacks this year because of injuries. none of them had any experience. wouldn't it be nice to have a backup qb sitting on the bench with some experience? we need JL to stick around, whether he wins the starting spot or not.

I think he will transfer.
RS will be the back up with some play. Like RP.
RS is enrolled in LSU here for spring

I think Lee is the #2 QB next year. I think Shep plays in certain situations, but JL is the #2 QB for next year. Shep will play but not put him as the #2 QB. LSU will need Jarett Lee again in a critical situation and he will come through.
Probably the best take on the situation unless Lee decides to transfer. As a note on JJ's performance in the bowl, remember is was against ACC and not SEC. I think what JJ has done and how he is developing is great, but he is going to need time and patience on our part.

I wish they could redshirt RS then play him behind JJ for a year.

Ive said it before in another thread.
1. JJ
2. RS.....because he will take the role of Andrew Hatch. I dont see JL running Hatch's plays. The role of running the speed/read options as well as the qb draw plays should be given to the best athlete. I dont see how you cannot put RS at this point when its been established that JJ is the number 1 passer and running qb.
3. JL. I think he takes the number 1 spot if JJ goes down. Yes, RS is the number 2 qb. But I think it would be wise to have an experienced passing qb to come in to run the offense if JJ goes down. That wont be RS for at least another year.
4. Hatch. The odd man out. I hate to see this happen to a great guy. But the writing is on the wall.
