I don't know how the Kelly era will turn out, but it is clear that paying a coach in his 60s who has never won a NC $10MM/year with a 10-year guaranty worth $100MM is a complete waste of resources.

Many of you point out that our state cannot compete financially with larger, wealthier states (Texas) and programs that can win the recruiting war by outspending us. Our best hope going forward is to better spend the resources we have from both the AD and smaller donor base.

There usually isn't a magic coaching hire, especially if you can't compete for the type of players it takes to build a NC contending roster.

Woodward with his "home run" give away the farm hires is not only irresponsible and selfish (he loves his name in the news), but it is potentially program killing. I don't give one frick about WBB...

I would settle for less splashy hire if we could use AD resources on competing for the best talent in the new NIL and TP era.

There are tons of talented coaches out there who could win at LSU if we can consistently recruit and develop players.

Think about the talent we could recruit if we had half of his salary every year to put toward NIL... And he would still be making $5MM/year.

ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS for this... Think about that.

Woodward will pay Bobby Bowden’s trust $200M to transport his gravesite to the sidelines of Tiger Stadium and save us all

And just think we could have just given that to Ukraine.

Interesting take. Im trying to think of all the amazing things. Could do with that extra $0 I’m currently spending on Kelly’s salary.

Just to clarify, I care about winning. But I could not care less about how much money rich people are spending on other rich people.

How about posters quit conflating a coach's salary with available NIL funds.

I think we could win with a very talented up and coming small college or even HS coach that we pay 500,000 per year with major incentives. take the other 9+million and buy the best players. I believe that is where the future lies as long as he NIL rules remain the same. Coaches are getting way to much $$ with no incentive to actually prove themselves and earn their money. It is like a retirement system for pretty successful coaches from other schools. Stupid stupid system imho.

If you don't understand that buying out contracts and guaranteeing $100MM contracts exhausts the resources of our small donor base (as compared to programs like A&M and UGA) that could be used toward an NIL collective.......

It’s the length of the contract that is a killer. He is paid regardless, not inventive based and if it’s a bad fit LSU is fricked for a decade. And guess what. It’s a bad fit

people keep saying this over and over again.

we aren’t paying 100MM for this.

we’re paying 100MM for last year, thisnyear and the next 8 years.

also LSU Bubble jn full effect.

Lane Kiffin makes 9 million. you think that extra 500k should guarantee us a 10-0 record against Ole Miss?
