Not to sound stoopid, but is the boat just to take a ride to the game? I mean it seems that its a short ride (if you leave from IVAR'S) and besides for saying that you took a boat to the game is there any other real benefit?

I am staying at the University Inn, which is close to the stadium to begin with and therefore taking a boat doesn't seem that attractive to me...

Just called Ivars and spoke to Ron, the GM.... reserved 23 spots...they said after my reservation they only had 3 spots remaining on the boat. Said the boat holds 350 or so.

Let's hope mine was in there, they didn't take my CC info...

Either way, that plan sounds pretty similar to ours. I'm sure we'll have a good time.

Its more for the feel of going to the game, and also not having to deal with parking.

As someone said earlier, it'd be like coming to an LSU game 30 minutes early and not tailgating. Kinda one of those things to experience...

ivars does seem like a short ride. we have family that are ou fans and they said they took the boat from chinooks and they had a blast. they had a bar on board which is a huge selling point to me and its a better and more scenic ride

They didn't take mine at first either. I called them back later to check on my reservation (it was in their computer) and they asked for it then.

I'll look into Chinooks in August when it becomes available...

Do we have info on chinooks? Where is it relative to downtown or university district?

the phone number is on the 2nd page. i think its one of the "wait til august" places. but its located in the fishermans wharf area of downtown and its supposed to be a longer ride and more of a party atmosphere i think

Has anyone called Chinooks and gotten any detailed information yet? If not, I'll try and call sometime today.

Price? Include dinner? Bar on boat? What time does the boat leave for the game?

I've reserved Ivars for 23 people, but from the sounds of things we may want to do Chinooks.

Just called Chinooks. Like yall said, they start taking reservations on Aug. 1st....

She said the price is not set yet, but last year it was $25 per person. This includes the boat ride and 2 free drinks at the restaurant or on the boat. There are bars on the boat, and the boat leaves about 1.5 hours prior to kickoff. The boat holds about 200 people. I asked what kind of crowd there would be there for the couple of hours leading up to the game, and of course she said it is a "great" crowd on GameDays. She said they have TVs with all the other games on as well.

So..... I'm thinking of switching from Ivars to Chinooks on Aug 1st... what yall think?

i'm in, me and my g/f. Guess we'll cab it from downtown or hang out by campus that day and cab from there. How hard will it be to cab back to downtown after the game I wonder.

sounds like a lot of cab $$ but I want to do the boat thing too since it's a once in a lifetime deal.

Here is a map of everything's location relative to one another...

A is Chinooks (one of the restaurant boat places)
B Is W Hotel Downtown (close to all the other downtown hotels)
C is Ivars (another one of the restaurant boat places)
D is Husky Stadium
E is The Ram (bar/restaurant close to campus that is good on GameDays to drink and watch all the other games on TV)

I feel ya on that. Since I am sooo close to the stadium I am planning on getting there early and seeing the sights. I figure there has to be at least some LSU fans that will be tailgating...

Although we may still do a boat, just not sure.

lol... yeah, The Ram is supposedly a restaurant/bar right close to campus that is a good place to go to on GameDays and drink/eat/watch all the other games on TV.

Hey Golfer ... starting to get some responses on the UW board...

To be honest, I'm leaning more to Ivars given the proximity to campus and the fact that we'll most likely be on campus on GameDay. Supposedly if you're on campus on GameDay getting over to Chinooks in the late afternoon would be a little more difficult whereas Ivars is walking distance from campus. I would imagine both boats are basically the same thing (I think they are both Argosy boats) ... just the Chinooks is a longer boat ride and more scenic since it's a little further away from Husky Stadium than Ivars.
