Lavalais was every bit as good, just didn't win the awards.

Or what if teams learned how to deal with these talented DTs, because Dorsey started it.

Dorsey peaked while at LSU. He was a man among boys, kinda like LF7. Once he got to the NFL he has been average at best.

Brockers and Logan were great talents no doubt that's why they went to tha LEAGUE but WHILE IN COLLEGE they didn't produce like Dorsey did. Not even combined! That's my point.

If you didn't see how many holes Brockers plugged up or how many QB hurries he made during that 2011 season you may be dumber than I thought.

Logan/Brockers played under completely different scheme. Chavis wants the DTs to eat blockers and allow the LB freedom.

Pellini wanted penetration and attack from his entire DL.

Hard to compare that based upon stats.

Leaving early doesn't help their stats either.

Those two were great because they had each other, Dorsey on the other hand- was a beast all by himself.

Didn't Nevis have 10 sacks in 2010?

It Is a good example of how dominant and disruptive he was though. I used to just watch him at the snap play after play because he just blew guys off the line like rag dolls. That line was nasty. As a unit I think 2011 was just as good.

Dorsey was a special player, but this is just plain ignorant.

1. Brockers only played 2 years.
2. Drake Nevis had more TFL in 3 years than Dorsey did in 4. Does that make him better?

Personally, I think Lavalais' '03 season was just as good, if not better than Dorsey's in '07. Seemed more disruptive IMO.

Dorsey 69 1/2 tackles, 12.5 TFL, 4 pass break ups & 4 pass deflections.

Lavalais 61 tackles, 16 TFL, 1 interception, 6 pass break ups & 7 pass deflection

Dorsey would have 1/3rd of those stats if he was in John Chavis’ "contain" system.

Do you know much about football?

Uh, he played with Nevis, and Ricky Jean Francois. two n.f.l. tackles.

I think Brockers and Logan were pretty close if not as good. Dorsey logged more years at lsu. he stayed until a senior. Had brockers and logan stayed until seniors, I think you would see similar stats.

The original question should be why has the d.t. talent faded since brocker and logan. we haven't had that kind of talent since 2011. it's why our defenses hasn't been as strong and why we have struggles with power running teams like bama and Arkansas.

Stop.

Just no.

Marlon Favorite, Charles Alexander, Al Woods, Drake Nevis, Tyson Jackson, Kirston Pittman, and Ricky-Jean Francois in the title games.

Dude had a lot of talent around him.

ETA:

Not to mention "those two" are pretty damn good in the NFL apart from each other.

This.

I think we're getting back to that though with Ed O.

Yes our lack of size up front has allowed power teams like Bama and arky to run over and through us in recent years. We need size and rotation at DL.

Brokers/Logan were the backbone of that dominant 2011 defense. And FYI to the OP, Logan has already been better than Dorsey has been in the league
