Was he scared to throw the ball to the wide receivers the whole time he was here or does he do it in practices and scrimmages but not in the games?

Nerves like that do not appear in practice. If I played baseball like I practiced I would be the greatest ever. In a real game, just a little better than average

Nope, which is probably why Kelly’s veins keep popping out of his neck…

You can hang in the pocket all day when you are wearing a yellow jersey.

The answer is pretty obvious, some people practice really well and others are gamers.

Scared or not we would not have the record we have right now if Jayden was loose with the ball. I think we will open it up this weekend a bit more. Our Defense is good enough for us two continue to win low scoring shoot outs.

This. Rohan was always the ultimate example.

It’s why I wish Nuss would have gotten the second and third quarters against southern with Howard getting the fourth, and reverse it vs. NM. It would be great to have one of them (especially Walker) turn out to be a “bright lights” guy.

So tired of this "Danies clearly isn't the guy" mentality from some posters on this site. It's been 5 games, we don't know how daniels will develop within the offense yet. Here is a comparison between Daniels and Burrows first 5 games. Daniels isn't gonna be Burrow, this is just to show you can't judge a QB that just transferred to your school in 5 starts.

Let the coaches and players work on improving the passing game. This shite doesn't happen overnight.

That's a great question.

Tigers don't change their stripes. That might be the reason he is starting. It probably wasn't as evident preseason because it's not game action.

This narrative has to die. It's not the problem. He's not out there seeing the players open and just deciding not to throw it because he's just very, very selective.

By the time he realizes where the ball needs to go, it's too late. That's what's happening. That's why he can't let it go. He's behind the clock. He doesn't anticipate. He doesn't know what to expect.

This isn't a decision.

This is a quarterback with two years of starting experience who had a nfl coach and coaches who supposedly taught him how to read a defense and go through his progressions if can’t do those things with two years experience than he’s not the answer he’s just a stop gap until Kelly can figure who the right quarterback should be

Yeah, it’s weird because some players are the opposite, some suck in practice and can only show their potential when the lights come on. Two different types of players.

One other note: as I recall we had a lot of guys in the secondary injured or practicing cautiously in the Spring and Fall. As a result we had a lot of walk on defending against our 1st team, which JD seemed to get a lot of reps with.

Might never have been challenged in practice.

We're not running Arizona State's offense, are we?

Pretty sure that both (all 3) QBs are still getting comfortable with Denbrock's schemes.

Fla State, Miss State and Auburn, you can't take risks because you're trying to stay in the game. Daniels did his job enough that we won 2, came back in the other and should have been in OT.

The Southern and New Mexico games were no-wins... yes, they were comfortable wins and you could play Nuss to get experience. But frankly, it might have been a good idea to play Daniels more, and get HIM more comfortable.

I said it in another post, the goal is to implement a winning program, not get style points. Kelly isn't aiming at a 300 yd passing game as a baseline.
