The 2016 roster was much, much better than the 2017 roster.

Besides RB, 2018 looks pretty solid, regardless who wins the QB spot.

Undoubtedly the biggest underachieving team of any team I’ve followed across all sports.

People talk about lower expectations but les Miles is the reason for that. The worse thing they did was bring him back instead of firing him. That’s a 1 loss or undefeated team with coach O having a full season

They don’t beat Auburn (and maybe Florida considering they almost lost to Florida) if they don’t lose to Troy.

Real teams don’t need losses to sunbelt teams to beat teams that they are already capable of beating.

No. No it’s not. It’s a two loss team at best, seeing as he lost to Florida and Bama while he was the coach, and he’s probably good for a loss to Auburn or Wisconsin.

les miles ruined that season for me. but that year was the year LSU finally was able to move on from his complacency and misplaced loyalty to Cameron and peveto. whether you like O or not, things have settled down and he and staff SAVED that outstanding recruiting class and it appears that he is rebuilding the team and doing it the right way.

we never should have lost to Wisconsin, auburn or florida that year.

You missing one big piece: THE QB!!!

I don't understand the relevance here. Since the 2007 championship, we've had one year of good QB play (Mett 2013). So while I understand we didn't have a QB, it isn't much different than normal. We still had high expectations and a killer group of talent, and severely underachieved.

I love how the O fan bois have somehow made the Troy loss into a GOOD thing.

You don’t understand talent if that is what you think

You give him the end of 2015 and that offseason as coach and we have a whole different culture coming into that season. We beat all those teams most likely.

but LSU has the worst defense it has in a very long time.

look at the attrition that occurred on that side of the ball from 2011 and 2012.

and some "people" already want to give O a pass for next year because LSU has to replace its QB and RB.

We gave him the end of 2016 and that offseason as coach and he turned it into a culture where we got our shite kicked in at home by Troy.

2016 Was the most disappointed I've ever been in an LSU team. I partially blame myself though. Shouldn't have hyped myself up so much.

2017. No doubt. I’ll take the loss to Wisky and AU over Troy and MSU. Everything else is irrelevant.

2017 had a 9-3 roster
2016 had 11-1 or better roster

If Miles fires cam after 2015 and hires chip lindsey, or kendall briles, or just about any other decent OC in the country LSU is in the playoffs in 2016

Dude, 9-3 with a chance at 10 wins is a great record for this team. Nobody expected us tp be contenders this season. We really should be 10-2, even though we did lose to troy, we are a better team than them, and we would beat them if we played them again without question. I believe we would beat miss st if we played them again right now. Orgeron and this staff did a great job this season considering everything they had to deal with. Anyone that looks at this season as a "disappointment" are just not realistic at all. I'm proud of this team and the way they came back and finished the year after all of the setbacks we had to overcome. It's definitely a season we can build off of moving forward. Now lets go bewt the shite out of ND and get our 10 wins!!! Geaux Tigers!!!

ETA : Sorry, I thought the OP was referring to this season as a disappointment, not last season. Hes, last season was a disappointment, and thats why les miles got fired. We had way too much talent on that team to lose 4 games. It was the same thing as the previous 5 seasons under miles. The talent was there, yet, he continued to produce 8 win teams and lose a couple games a year to teams we had no business losing to. Les MIles was his the reason for his own demise. He was hard-headed when it came to his gameplans, his personnel decisions and his coaching decisions. It was simply time for him to go.

For me 1998 being preseason #6 with Kevin Faulk and Cecil Collins was a big letdown having a losing season. Cecil got kicked out of school and dinardo hired Lou tepper and the rest was history.
Also the 2008 year we lost 4-5 games where our defense couldn't stop anybody Jarrett lee threw a pick 6 every damn game.

Ya, and had 17 kids in nfl training camp from last years team, on top of your 5 best players having lingering injuries all year. 2016 was a clean year with injuries & loaded with veteran talent. 2017 was always going to be a rebuild year because of that

Did you know he had a better record as a head coach than Ed Orgeron before Ed was hired at LSU? Thats the level of coach they hired.
