Wade’s coaching is a different level- last series is proof

Waters hits a 3 to pull LSU within 2 with 12.6 seconds left. Timeout by Wade.
Inbounds play by A&M- LSU wants to deny the inbounds pass but more importantly, they don’t want any “shooters” to get it. It works. Davis, a 66% free throw shooter gets the ball. Fouled immediately.
Post inbounds- Wade stalls and gets a “delay of game warning”. Essentially icing the shooter without calling a TO or getting a foul called. It works
A&M free throws- misses both. Rebound takes while to gather in. That comes into play later.
LSU possession- Waters crosses mid court with 7 seconds left and kicks it to Mays. Wade calls TO. Wade says on the postgame the team was beginning to run a predetermined play. Problem is play takes 8 seconds to run. They were behind schedule since the rebound took longer than expected. New play drawn up to get Waters the ball with a catch and shoot. Ballgame!
Genius

I agree with most everything with the exception of this. I'm sure the plan was to get Waters the ball but I doubt the plan was to get Waters the ball 35 ft. from the basket. Waters just made an incredible shot.

If that is true, that is solid coaching.

Posters are stupid for downvoting the truth...wade even said they didn’t execute the play he called

Low IQ fans if they really think that was what should have happened.

When you hear Chris Blair and John Brady interview Wade after the games, it is a night and day difference between him and Johnny Jones. He will talk in detail about various plays he called in critical points in the game. He will talk about switching the defensive sets throughout the game, how they worked, and why he did what he did.

We certainly didn't execute the last play against Kentucky. I'm ok with that. Wade is pushing the right buttons. The team needs to be smarter in those moments. They will get better going forward.

He gave A&M credit in the post-game for disrupting the play and pushing Waters further away.

It really is amazing. Did they even watch the last play

No reason to be anything but optimistic with Wade and this team. I can’t wait to see where we are in 2-3 years as a program.

I thought it was Mayes that hit the three in the corner to make it a 2 point game ?? Could be wrong though .

That was a corner 3 a couple possessions earlier.

The play was well defended by Aggies. Waters curl was forced out about 5 feet further than expected. It was a good call, but A&M was all over it.

Waters hit both 3's at the end, both from 30+ feet.

He does a great interview but the coaching is the issue.

I will give you credit, you have your schtick and you’ve stuck to it.

I am a basketball moron and even I knew something didn’t go right from 7 seconds in. But the rest of the op is solid.

Per Wade, we already had a play called off a missed free throw so the original plan was not to call a timeout but push the ball up and get a shot off without allowing the Aggies to set up and situationally sub which I love.
Too many coaches want to overcoach and call timeouts...but if you practice these situations IMHO you gain the advantage by not allowing your opponent to re-group.
But Wade saw that it wasn't working like we wanted so he got the timeout.
The play was set with 3 options, and Waters options was to curl off the screen with the ball. Heiar told him he had one dribble per second. But the Aggies pushed him off his spot and he realized if he dribbled they would trap him if he dribbled, so he chose to go right up with it.
The kid is a playuh!
