It was just yesterday that Darius days could be the best player on a final four team

You are correct, you need 3 minimum really good shooters. Anybody who thinks you can get away with one, is naive, plus it puts tremendous pressure on the defense to defend all parts of the court, especially if there is good spacing like you’ve mentioned.
That being said, it’s sometimes hard to amass that many good shooters but you take that shooter even if he doesn’t totally fit the mold of what you are looking for. Just make minor adjustments offensively and defensively to make those players fit.

correct. Good coaches, in any sport, must ADAPT their offensive and defensive schemes to the talent they have, which can change from game-to-game, and even in-game.

Square peg in a round hole doesn't work. Adapt, and earn the multimillion dollar salary.

And this isn't only focused on Wade, this applies to all coaches, in all sports, at all levels.

I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if we would have Pinson, Miller, and Days on the floor at once that would be more than enough of a perimeter threat between the three.

You made great points and a lot of people don’t distinguish between a scorer and a good shooter. A good shooter won’t necessarily need the volume of shots that a scorer would and they night in and out will be a more consistent shooter.
Also a great point on the type of players WW recruited, I’m sorry, but so far, Days, Pinson, Murray and Gaines haven’t shown they are really consistent, good shooters. Although, if they ran good, fundamentally sound off the ball screens to free those guys up for clean looks, they possibly could. Fudge, Wilkinson and others are just defenders. Eason is a good example of a guy being a scorer, his percentage might not be great some nights but he’s going to manufacture points.

It’s hard to adapt your offense to anything when you lack players that can create offense. Whether that is shooting outside, winning one on one, or just passing the ball.

Yeah we quite frankly just don't have the personnel right now on offense. I said it last year on defense -- we could change scheme all we wanted, but we didn't have the personnel to be good on defense without guards quick enough at the point of attack or a rim protector to clean up their deficiencies and you aren't going to be great at defense with that recipe. This year, we have the same problem on offense. Missing both of your starting guards would kill any team's offense.

Miller and Pinson were going to be relied upon to be the creation engines of the offense allowing the rest of our guys to hopefully play within themselves and be efficient at their roles. Now we don't have either one of them, so we are relying on: Gaines who has so much potential, but was supposed to be a bench energy guy continuing to develop his skills; Justice who wasn't supposed to have a big role especially after missing time/reps with injury and technically should still be in high school; Eason who is an exceptional player, but has had his turnover % skyrocket as he's been asked to do more and teams have tried to take away his right hand; Fudge, Days, and Wilkinson are good at their roles, but creating on offense is not it. I think Reid has the potential to be a good interior hub on offense as he matures, but he's not ready this year. Murray has been just fine outside of the Arkansas game.

I think when we get Pinson back, we can be a solid offensive team. It won't be pretty on that end, but we should be competent enough. I do think there's areas for improvement:
-- Increase Murray's ball handling responsibilities/usage.
-- Clean up our screens: Gaines needs to learn to be patient and let his big get set before he attacks. We also don't sprint to our spots on screens or make contact with the defenders so we don't leverage good post position or create separation well enough. This is pretty important when you don't have anyone who can create separation for themselves off the bounce or pull defenders away from their man to stop dribble penetration.
-- Obviously regardless of how skilled your offense is, you have to limit turnovers (we've been dreadful), make free throws, and battle on the offensive boards. Need to get our FT% back up to at least our season average as it has plummeted in conference play. With Reid's size and Days, Fudge, and Eason's activity, we probably could/should be better on the offensive boards than what we are. If your team isn't skilled on offense (we aren't), then you have to separate yourself in effort and focus.

We have guys who can shoot but aren’t bona fide shooters. ie Murray, Williams, Eason. Murray and Williams could gradually become shooters. Look at Smart from his freshman to junior year.

Eta- we’ve seen a slight improvement from Gaines in recent games albeit with more volume. They’ve been working on his lower body mechanics so he doesn’t scissor on the release like Smart used to before he changed
