Will Wade is great at building energy and fan support. McNeese is a perfect place for his talents.
But the rest of the country who are actually trying to compete for championships need coaches who are good at X's and O's and have their players prepared. McMahon's style of play may not be as flashy, but as long as he wins, who cares? Time will tell if he's the right man for the job, but the start of SEC play has been encouraging with the limitations he has.

You completely misunderstand. I know we're gonna lose some more games--probably won't make the tournament. The improvement is undeniable, though, and there is a contingent of fans that made up their minds long ago that improvement for this team and coach was impossible. They're triggered right now because they're being proved wrong. So out of a pure sense of schadenfreude, I take some enjoyment in that.

Key point, More Sports Board. If you can’t have fun with it, what’s the point? Pioneerbasketball a huge Arkansas fan who would have done nothing but trash Will Wade on the SEC Rant when he was at LSU. But Pio started the season long McNeese State basketball thread on the MSB for “all of us life long McNeese State basketball fans”.
You can’t take everything so seriously.
But the posters that use every win to try and throw it in the Will Wade fans’ face is pretty sad.
A) almost all of us here on the Tiger Rant are pulling for LSU to win. If McMahon had put a better product on the floor last season (something better then 2-16 while losing most by double digits) then people would more easily move on from the previous coach
B) the posters trying to take a victory lap over a Chris Beard for one win against Beard in year one shows a lack of intelligence. Those posts will likely age as well as last year’s “we finally got us a good X and O coach” thread after beating Arkansas last year.
C) yes it is annoying after every LSU loss to see Will Wade threads on the Rant. But you don’t combat that by slinging more crap against the wall to stir up more fighting. You say I always bring Will Wade up in men’s basketball threads, but I don’t bring anything up, I just respond to ignorant posters. Will Wade did very good things at LSU.

Well those people aren't fans of LSU then so idk why people give them the time of day. I was a Wade fan and still am. He finally brought some excitement back into that building. But no one person is ever bigger than the 3 letters on the front of the jersey. If there is a section of LSU "fans" hoping McMahon fails then they aren't LSU fans so screw 'em.

Where are these derangement posts? Getting Cook has been huge for him, this is a completely different team than it was last month.
Based on the body of work and remaining schedule, he should win 7-8 conference games (we have 6 left against teams with either 1 or 0 conference wins). He gets double digit wins and its great improvement. Given our preconference performance, he's going to need to win 11-13 conference games to get in the tournament discussion.
Still very frustrated at what we gave up, hopefully we can get back to the tournament in year 3 and stay there consistently (because that is what we gave up, consistent tournament appearances).

Nowhere in these three points do you have anything positive to say about the current basketball team except for "I'm pulling for LSU." It reads a lot like you've made up your mind that LSU is going to fail, and that we're all morons for having hope--not like a Choupique19 "yeah, that'd be nice" kinda hope, but a legit "hey, this really could happen" kinda hope.
You even predict it'll get worse.

I didn't see that--good post. I don't really see how you can say that, then turn around and say this enthusiasm likely will not age well, but as a fan I'm sure I've had similar takes that seem polar opposite and confusing.

It’s not the “enthusiasm for LSU” I critiqued, it was the “Chris Beard is not as good of a coach as Matt McMahon” sentiment of this post. Beard has proven to be an elite coach.

How is he responsible for the Administration's decisions? If he stays, I can assure he wins more than 2 conference games in 2022-23. What did we avoid by firing him, a 10-game suspension of our HC?
