But they weren't worth a squat when they had to get a stop in the Penn St. or Ole Miss games. The 13 points they gave up to Florida was the most deceiving I've ever seen. Florida ran up and down the field on them, thus they only punted once, had 1 TO, and were basically on the field the entire game. G

That is Chavis's MO. Even at Tenn they were never a team that consistently stopped yardage, but they force FG in the redzone, and he finished with defense in the top 10 in scoring like 9 years in a row. He is supposedly a master of the prevent zone d and when he gets in a short field its hard to score td's. get used to it.

You asked for an example of someone getting a vote of confidence and still getting fired. I thought the "Brownie" incident would be one that, perhaps, you would recognize. Wikipedia has an entry on Michael D. Brown that may explain the reference better ... see the section "Hurricane Katrina".

My point is that votes of confidence don't come out when things are going well. They come out as an answer when things aren't going well.

It's now up to the coaching staff to move to correct problems with the offense that are no less than two years old now.

Or they come out to keep the rantards from overloading his in-box on a daily basis.

Vote of Confidence from Alleva = The beginning of the end of Miles .

I hope I'm wrong but I posted many times that the perception of CLM has done him in and NOTHING less than a NC will cure it and I dont see it happening in the next year or even two.

After a troubling season on defense in 2008, Coach Miles re-tooled his defense and the Tigers ranked No. 12 in the country in scoring defense this year. This season, our offense floundered as it slipped to a No. 112 ranking in the nation - a statistic certainly not indicative of a championship-caliber team. I am confident there will be the necessary improvement on offense in 2010.

This really makes 0 sense. "Well our D sucked 2 years ago. We changed coaches and did much better this year. The key was definitely switching coaches. Our offense sucked this year and we're not going to fire Crowton...but it will definitely be better in 2010!" WTF?

ah, didn't get the jist of your reply, thought you were calling me brownie.........

and Alleva's statement didn't read to me as a VOC as you put it, but more of it's not as bad as some think....if that's a VOC to you then so be it, I just didn't read it that way.

I am personally committed to working with Coach Miles ...

"This is a game clock, Les. When all three numbers reach 0 the game is over."

I think and SEC Championship game appearance or BCS bowl may suffice in the next year or two.

good letter...

In the big picture he is spot on, however, LSU fans know what they see, what it is suppose to look like, and so we have a lot to improve on.

I read it as "win the SEC or you're fired."

Not necessarily terrible, but I want my offense to see the field more than 50 plays a game.

I think it will start getting hard to recruit athletes who want to play in such a boring system.

How hard is it to hit select all, shift, delete?

Jesus Christ.

Do you honestly think Alleva is just sending this email to get fans off his back? That's the only reason?

If your answer is no, then the word in bold above fits you perfectly because you realize the statement you made above was just to alienate other fans. If your answer is yes, then you are just dumb.

This makes me very happy. I wish Les Miles the best of luck in the Baton Rouge restaurant business.

Yes, but the real issue is "win it" when? "In 2010", or "soon"?
