And knowing the roster make up of the two teams, I know Vitello didn’t build the majority of Arkansas’ current roster, but he did get them Kevin Kopps.
Kopps would have went to Arkansas regardless. He sure didn't follow Tony over to Tennessee. Dave Van Horn is running Pitcher U right now and top pitchers know it. Vitello was simply part of the lower command.

You’re saying a guy with no connections to the university of Arkansas would have gone there without the guy who found him and signed him. And you’re basing it on the kid not transferring to Tennessee when the recruiter left two years into his college career?
ETA and pitcher U is currently being coached by Matt Hobbs on Vitello’s recommendation.

You have some unhealthy fascination with Arkansas baseball. Are you actually an LSU fan or are you an Arkansas fan posing as one? You only just showed up recently and only just to shite on one specific coaching candidate.

Arkansas was 6-3 vs teams that didn’t make the tournament. 16-5 vs the rest. They didn’t sweep any of the “bad” teams. They must suck right? If we’re using this logic.

And Tony did go 3-0 at the Round Rock Classic in 2020.. Beat Texas Tech, Houston, and Stanford in a round robin. Gotta give him a check mark on that one.
But then he also lost a 3 game series to Wright State after that. The other 11 wins were against little sisters of the poor.
Tony is a bandwagon bet for a head coach. I'm thinking LSU admin are not fully on Tony's mule cart.

I have nothing against Vitello. I hope for the best for him. He obviously gets up early every morning and goes to work to do what he does. Can't disrespect that.
As for Arkansas fans, they'd love to see Vitello at LSU.

They’re losing recruits to him at Tennessee, I’m sure they would love to see it happen for a team they play every year.
ETA: and you never disputed that you are actually an Arkansas fan trolling this board.

Saban wasn’t merely a hot name. He was an established and highly thought of DC with the Browns and building a solid program at Mich State but he wasn’t a one hit wonder.
Michigan St. still had only had one really good season. He didn’t improve them greatly over where they were before previous to that. I don’t know if Vitello has the kind of mind for the game Saban did though.

A lot of teams start the seasons 15-2 and then they start playing real competition.
I’m not knocking what he has done at Tenn. it’s impressive. But their is nothing he has done that should justify the way people are talking about him here.
Imagine falling in love with gene chizik after the 2010 auburn championship. Auburn was 5-7 before he got there and 2 years later they were 14-0. He was the hot name at the time. Plenty of coaches have achieved short term success that doesn’t last. Very few have consistent long term success.

Full disclosure... I am an Aggie. Dropped in to see how your coaching search was going as it could have a direct impact on our search. For the record, I wanted Tom Herman to stay in Austin forever. He was way over his skis for that job. I don't view Vitello in the same lens. He has been successful in the SEC.
Knowing Woodward (since he was at A&M), I don't think he would pursue Vitello. His history indicates he will pursue a coach who has won a championship... a proven coach. Is that O'Sullivan? Who knows, but that would fit his hiring history.

How is this a hard analogy?
I’m talking about Herman BEFORE he went to Texas. When everyone here was obsessed with him being a Mensa scholar and the mastermind of the Ohio state offense.

Logan chambers is the guy van horn and vitello was arguing over he committed to Tennessee! Van horn try to back door vitello! It didn’t work! Players want a person close to their age that can relate too! Look at what 5 star christan Moore what he had to say about vitello! Van horn knows he can’t relate to young players! If want vitello you better back up the brinks truck! He taking arkansas best players!

If vitello can get Brady house, Ryan spikes, christan Moore , chase burns , kruise Newman! On campus That’s better than a lot of the sec! 5 th D1. 4 th perfect game!

Vitello may want to stay at Tennessee.
It isn't like they don't have money too. He has drawn a new legion of baseball fans at UT. They love him. He has a long term spot there, probably as long as he chooses. He might be gone in 3 years at LSU if he doesn't make Omaha. Then he is back to square one.

Coaching hires are notorious for coming out of left field about 75 percent of the time. Good chance it happens at LSU.
There is a good number of solid coaches out there.
