Full disclosure, it's just hard to get excited about college gymnastics.
The Olympics get my attention because of the elite level of gymnastics competition. NCAA, not so much.
Gymnastics is the one female sport where if you are 17, you're basically at retirement age. College women's gymnastics is practically an old folks home filled with 18 to 22 year olds.

We have to finish 1st or 2nd out of the 8 teams in our regional before we can hang with UCLA and OU! We certainly should do that, but they can't be looking ahead to Nationals. Gotta take care of business here so we can make it to Fort Worth!

You are welcomed to your opinion but most people, the vast majority, are much more interested in NCAA than Elite. Elite gets attention only every four years. A lot of people don't give NCAA a try but once you do it is so much more exciting. In Elite there is literally no competition. USA wins everything and Simone Biles can fall 3 times and still win. In NCAA you have fierce competition every week from Jan-April. You have your top teams but on any given day there are upsets. There are battles to win the all around and all event titles. It truly depends who hits on that day. That can't be said for Elite these days.
And you mention the Elite level of competition. You do realize that many many gymnasts, especially those on the top 6-8 teams, are doing more difficulty than most Elite gymnasts. You may only pay attention to team USA and Simone Biles but watch the team that finishes 4th or 5th at the Olympics. The NCAA could put a team together that would win an Olympic medal, easily.

1. Gymnastics isn't football when it comes to attention
2. The scoring is so biased and rigged that OU and UCLA will actually have to fall during every exercise for LSU to have any shot of winning the natty.

I don't think anyone is making point number 1.
Point 2 is true, unfortunately. Add in the fact that this year is UCLA's coaches final year and they have it in the bag so long as they show up. Not only does UCLA and Oklahoma have to fall but they have to fall twice in a rotation since you get to drop your lowest score. Even counting one fall may not be enough. Florida once won a National title while counting a fall, and it came down to a total gift of a score for the last gymnast. That's why I am just wanting LSU to hit. Nail your routines, keep that fire and momentum going and leave it all on the floor. F the judges who give a perfect Finnegan a 9.95 and a ridiculously constructed Ohashi floor routine a 10. They can't do anything about that. Just leave it all on the floor and go home with your head held high.

You're missing a couple of major points here.
1. We love LSU and my kids love cheering for LSU sports.
1a. My daughters love gymnastics.
2. LSU Gymnastics Meets are affordable for the whole family to attend a few meets a year and the SEC meet this year.
3. College Gymnasts are old enough for dad to enjoy the scenery as well as the competition.

Why are you even comparing it?

This is what will seal it for them, I'm afraid.
The good news is, after the SS we won't have to see that Ohashi girls mediocre floor routine anymore.

Thanks, BigB, for your insight. I had no idea Elite was like that. Over the last few years I have learned, like you said, that NCAA gymnastics is top level, and it's whoever hits and whoever misses ON THAT DAY who comes out on top. Oh, yeah, and with the judging biases thrown in for good measure.
It's just not right that Ohashi's routine - which has entertainment value, but no where near the technical value of many others - is scored so high. I don't know if she ever does a stuck landing, or if each pass ends with a jump and split, but how can that compare with a stuck landing like we see with Sarah and Kennedi! And Miya last year. I mean, how can she ever miss? There's no landing to stick! Gymnasts from other schools use that camouflage technique, too, but don't get the 10's that Ohashi gets. It makes me almost wish our girls would add more flash and less precision and artistry.

Hope this never happens in football. Imagine Alabama annd Notre Dame getting biased calls.

Very proud of the Tigers! Watched a re-run...I knew that they had already won the SEC. Very talented group of young women!! Purty too!
