His mistake if you want to call it that, happened so quickly and then he was out of the game. The game is obviously very mental for pitchers. He’s obviously very competitive. But he’s also young. The bullpen (Little) and others have struggled mentally at times this season. My hope is that he doesn’t even remember it and flushes it, because he has given us great stuff recently. I know Johnson would want him to be ready to perform when called upon. I think he’s got that edge about him, but I guess we won’t know until we see him again.

On a side note. It has been amazing to me to watch hitters on our team work their way through slumps. I know it’s part of baseball, but it is painful to watch and then it ends, like with Crews for instance. His is over. But it was painful to watch and lasted a good while. Is White in a mini slump?

He’s such a one pitch strike thrower he should purposedly try and get a swing at a ball out of zone first few pitches. It was only a matter of time. His stuff is just above average so location is at premium. It comes with th territory for a relief pitcher.

Not too worried about it. Tough coming in with men on. Hopefully next time, gets a clean slate. He does what you want , guy throws constantly around the plate..he's got good ...stuff.. tough freshmen...tough luck last night...he'll bounce back...coaches,team.. telling him to shake it off..we'll need him this week

What you saw was a freshman making his first appearance in Omaha. He was super-pumped and ‘overthrew’ the curve ball which flattened it out. It got hit a long ways. Next time out he’ll be a bit settled and will prob have his sharp curveball back.

My bet is JJ and the coaches saw it during his warmup pitches so they hooked him quick because his curveball was less sharp than usual.

I think he’ll be fine. He threw one pitch and floated it. I’m sure he would like that one back, but it’s not like he he was out there for 3 innings getting abused.

Considering he had a 2 HR game just last weekend, I’m gonna go on a limb and say “no.”

I didn’t mean to imply that he was weak or a pussy either. The whole team has shown lots of grit. I’m just sort of intrigued by the psychology of high level competition. It’s easy to say well Little must be a pussy. But I doubt that is the case. Some switch has to go off mentally for him to be able to take advantage of his skill set. Obviously it hasn’t yet, but I’m sure JJ is still trying.

Y’all, are right, Guidry probably doesn’t overthink things and is chomping at the bit to get back out and get crucial outs for his team.

He hung a breaking ball.

Hitter was waiting on a breaking ball because Guidry is dependent on it.

If they can anticipate a breaking ball, you can’t hang it over the plate or it’s BP.

Depends on whether he threw the pitch that was called and didn’t hang it.

I bet you thought that you sounded so knowledgeable and baseball savvy right when you hit submit- such a huge number of Baseball savants we have on here. I consider myself Lucky, just to read the expert baseball minds, it just drips off the pages.

He has one of the best in the country to help him get right mentally. The word is that Skenes is one of the best at preparation, especially mentally.

It was one pitch. He is probably ready to get back out there and flush that one.

Smart move by coaches to pull him. If he didn't have his stuff and stayed in and got abuse or lost the lead then I think that would have affected him more. But one hanging pitch that got clocked is something he can come back out and use as motivation. He has good coaches. He'll be fine.
