Texas is the second most populated state in the nation with the largest football talent pool. The top prospects from the state will accept invites to the game and Arkansas and Texas will put on the best show they can for them. Do you really not understand how this works?

LSU played in Texas twice already this year. Also I don't think LSU is hurting in recruiting

Seriously, the Independence Bowl may have higher TV ratings than ours

It's ND. The ratings will be high.

Not during the day.

Independence Bowl (on a Saturday afternoon) will get much better ratings than the mid-day Tuesday bowl we are playing in.

Agreed. Thinks like this used to matter more before the vast TV exposure college football gets now. But every single game LSU plays is on TV. If a high school player and his family are interested in LSU, they don't have to be in the same city as the team on gameday to get info about them anymore.

Yes, it is. Nobody cares about these crappy bowls with 6-6 and 7-5 teams. The thing that might actually impress recruits would be playing in one of the major bowls and beating a highly ranked team, but Les isn't too good at getting us to anything besides mid-tier bowls.

Want a better bowl? Win more games. It's that simple.

So now we are corncobs? Go frick yourself.

No one is complaining about the bowl. They are complaining that the game is 2:00 on a motherfricking Tuesday.

They are one in the same. This crappy timeslot is when this crappy bowl gets played. That's the risk you run when you put yourself in the running for crappy bowls.

The easiest solution... is win moar games.

I agree with you jbraua had this not been ND then this may have been the worst bowl LSU has played in a long time. For the working class though is it really worth getting off of work to watch a 7-5 team vs a 8-4 team?? I love LSU but to miss work to watch a couple of underachieving teams try end on a high note yeah boy! Thanks Les! Hell i'll get home at like 4pm and it will probably be 7-3 at the half anyway .

The Independence Bowl is being played on a Saturday. You're telling me that is a good bowl?

Funny, we actually won more games than the two teams playing in the Texas Bowl during prime time.

Check out the schedule here. LINK

There's not a single bowl being played on Sunday, December 28 (presumably because the NFL rules the day). It's a joke. The Belk Bowl, Independence Bowl, and frikin' Birmingham Bowl will have more viewers. The networks and conferences need to wake up and fix this.

Waaaay too many bowl games now and ESPN tries to monopolize all of them. Back when we only 10 and only the networks carried them they started around Dec 15 and we one each night leading up to New Years Day where you only had the Cotton, Rose Sugar and Orange. Then EVERYBODY wanted to be on New Years Day in the 90's and it became too much. Bama played in the first music city and I think we kicked off at like 2:30 or something on a Monday just so they could squeeze it in around the end of Dec. I got off at 5 and I didn't even bother. Found out that night what happened.

I am a 24th-year attorney. No court in Louisiana of which I am aware is doing anything during the week between Christmas and New Years. Hell, half my firm takes that week off. And most of my clients are using up their vacation days as well.

Sack up and take the afternoon off. You have my permission.

Guess we lost this round of crappy bowl roulette.

Solution for next year, win moar games vs. Arkansas.

No way. LSU-ND will outdraw SC-Miami .....easily. No matter when it's played or where it's played.

We only play Arkansas once a year. Hard to win "moar" gameS against one opponent.
