Good depth. Seems like more of a hitter. He can compete with dugas at 2nd

He led off for VCU, so I can't imagine he's slow. VCU had a pretty loaded infield, so I wouldn't completely write him off as a SS. Jay will look at several guys for all 3 infield positions. Like I said prior, though, he'll really have to pop to get more than spot work. Very low risk sign for us, very high reward potential for him and us.

SS is the turd in the baseball punchbowl this year! Before Young signed we were looking like world beaters; now we look like world beaters without a SS. I hope Guidry can play.

Bnips is good addition. This team will probably win some games

What made you think Young would've solved those problems? He wasn't exactly worlds better than Thompson and you guys act like he has no ability. He was good his freshman year and at the end of this past season. He still has tons of potential. I wouldn't give up on him. Guidry may end up starter who knows. I don't like saying that for freshman but it wouldn't shock me either. He's pretty talented. We'll be okay.

No...I don't believe that's true at all. You could argue maybe defensively he was better but saying he's "worlds better" is pure hyperbole.

Well it is. And numbers show it. Thompson had an OPS this past season of .827, pineda was .893. Go back to their freshmen years and its even greater. Thompson fielded .894 this year. Pineda, .966

This. Never understood the love for Young. Pineda is the one I wish we could have gotten here.

Hopefully either Thompson will improve or we can transition to Guidry before conference play.

What are you talking about? He said Young. We're talking about Young not Pineda.

For the Young doubters, he just signed for 1.3 million. MLB thinks he's okay.

Nippolt speed 7.41 60yd. Thompson 6.7. Guidry 6.36

Defensively he is, and any offensive comparisons are irrelevant as Thompson would have still been in the lineup somewhere else anyway.
