Oh yeah hotels look for the ones on Consitution Ave or Corporate Blvd. Lot of decent ones and fairly priced and not far from campus.

Def. wear your colors, you won't get a lot of shite. Not like if you were Bama or Fla...er anybody else in the SEC but Vandy.
ASide from that, try to go out in NOLA Friday night, then get to BR early, then party after. Then back to NOLA for the Saints game on Sunday.
Monday, it'll all seem like a movie.

Things you must do -
1. Eat at Chimes outside LSU gates.
2. If you don't have one, eat at Raising Canes Chicken Fingers. The original one is just up the road from Chimes but they are all over town too. Get the sauce and lemonade.
3. Eat at TJ Ribs on Acadian just north of I 10. Huge LSU memorabilia haven including the 1959 Heisman Trophy and a national championship crystal trophy replica. Also the site of all the LSU coaches radio shows. Get the baby back ribs. You won't be disappointed.
4. Don't do any of the above on game day. In fact, eat nothing before you go to campus. Wear your Idaho gear proudly and bounce around from tailgate to tailgate. Trust me, your stomach will be full of good food and cold beer, so long as you're not a douche.
5. Be at the stadium to see the band come down the hill, about 90 minutes before kickoff. The week of the game, an itinerary will be released by LSU for game day. Check it for exact times. This is an absolute must.
6. Check out Mikes tiger cage. He may not be there depending on what time you visit, because he may be on the field to welcome your Vandals into Death Valley. No, I'm serious. Really.
7. Be in your seats at least 25 minutes before kickoff. That will ensure you don't miss the band coming onto the field. This is also an absolute must.
8. Enjoy watching your team lose by 35 or more points. By then you will have had such a great time and will be so full and perhaps drunk that you probably won't care anyway.
Have a safe trip and for Gods sake don't stay or go anywhere in north Baton Rouge, and don't venture further north of campus beyond the Circle K on Highland, on the corner across from the original Canes I mentioned above. It's unsafe, to be kind. You might be safer in Mike's cage.
Have fun, Tiger bait!

Try the Hampton Inn on Reiger Rd ( Just off Seigen Lane). I just checked with a buddy, and he said they have good, clean rooms, at a good rate and easy to get to campus. They are also close to good restaurants and shopping areas.

To really experience BR, hit up any waffle house or Ihop around midnight after the game. You will have stories to tell your folks back home

Stay away from nega tigers.

Vandal, I read all the posts and Captain Want gave you the best advice. I'll just add that if you're coming in two days early stay in New Orleans (Nola). It's a much better town to stay in and only about 70 minutes from campus. On game day go early to miss traffic and enjoy the atmosphere. It's truly one of a kind.

Go see Alex Box baseball stadium. Holds more than the Kibbie dome. Visit my son at the Indian mounds for tailgate. He is transferring BACK to LSU from Moscow. He'll be waving an Idaho State Flag and hosting all Vandal visitors. Has a few buddies on your football team as well. Geaux Tigers--BSU fans blow!

Son--you've never been to U of I. Don't sell them short---they do know how to party (too much).

1st of all stay in New Orleans the night before the game and just eat a fabulous lunch and dinner. Then stay out all night on Bourbon street. Sleep in head to BR and accept the fact you may be "Tigerbaited" by a few dumbasses. Then find a tailgate with the best food and just ask the guy in charge on his thoughts of Jordan Jefferson and let nature take it's course.

SIAP
Go to Parrain's for chargrilled oysters, it's close to campus. They will change your life.

We Vandals do have balls and aren't afraid of much after all we are from Idaho where we fend of wild animals just to get inside our homes.
Here in Louisiana, we would have killed and eaten them long ago :-D There's a LaQuinta Inn on the corner of I-10 and Acadian Thruway (one route into LSU) It's clean, inexpensive, has a continental breakfast, and is accross the street from TJ Ribs (best ribs not in a tailgate party). Have fun
