Both. The real issue is after it starts. It's not a simple injury to just "rest" It can get aggravated simply getting out of bed or walking after sitting for a period of time.

When I had it, my PI trainer had me stand on an inclined plane for about 2 minutes then added (cheep) inserts in all my shoes. No problem in many years

No, I had it and was able to walk normally within 2 weeks. But since I am still active and play sports, went to physical therapy. Wore insert inside shoe. Fully recovered in 6 weeks, no problems since.
