Do you really think college football fans outside of Louisiana and the Sun Belt actually know who ULL is?

What has ULL done w/ there extra $$$?

If im not mistaken, ULL is building a new grand stand for the softball facility as we speak(which now they will have a good chance to actually host regionals). Also, track and soccer complex is being built now as well.

I did not mean to start a bunch of shite about my original post but my main point is that "usl" had some very intense rivalries with some in state schools. I think that was a good thing for fans from both sides.

I understand what you are saying, but I'm pretty sure that us being shitty for this long wasn't in the plans.

Not trying to start any crap here.. just laying out the facts. You are in fact wrong about ULL ever being in 1AA. They were given the option many years back to switch to 1AA from 1A along with other schools in their conference... McNeese being one of those schools to take the option to move down. ULL decided to stay put, which I'm glad they did.

I see all of your opinions on how competing in 1AA would seem more productive but there are thousands of Cajun fans that highly disagree. Honestly though why do you care so much what division we play in?? It doesn't affect LSU, so why bother? I'd much rather be a low 1A team for some period of time while hopefully improving in years to come and maybe some day being a respectable college football mid major. As opposed to "ruling" 1AA... where is the progress in that? Wouldn't you rather see ULL hopefully be a respectable football team one day as opposed to being an elite 1AA team that will still be viewed as a huge underdog when playing any 1A team.

While I know we will most certainly lose to LSU this weekend, I do think we can be more competitive than in years past, which is all I can ask for as progress. I mean hey 5 years ago we wouldn't have even come close to beating a big12 school... Just sayin

it has grown to be apparent that those that attend LSU don't have the same respect for the rest of the state.

I don't think it's that we lack respect, per se; it's that we are so big that we don't really pay attention to the smaller Louisiana schools. I think we (as an institution, not necessarily our football fans) give credit where credit is due.

The only time I ever hear how much ULL hates LSU is when I come to this forum.

Then you obviously haven't read either The Vermilion or The Daily Advertiser. Both attack, either directly or subtly, LSU and its fans. I pull for ULL when they aren't playing us; I don't understand their contempt for us.

Out of curiosity, why are you wearing LSU colors on ULL's campus? That seems disrespectful to me. I'm assuming you're a ULL student, but even if you're not, it's not really polite to wear LSU's colors on campus unless it's for a ULL/LSU game.

I grew up in Delcambre about 20 minutes from "ull" and have watched probebly 50
"ull" games over the years. The atmosphere at the mcneese game was off the charts. I'm just saying if they had more games like that interst in the program would be greater.

I see what you are saying, but I would rather have the opportunity to be able to play and BEAT a K State at home than to play a Central State as a home OOC opponent. You can't schedule teams like K State or Oklahoma State (coming to Lafayette in 2010) at home when playing in 1AA.

Now as a 1-A doormat they have been able to upgrade the campus, facilities, and many other things.

Are you serious? I've been to ULM's campus and their sports facilities are pretty hideous and much worse than UL(L).

ULL has always played in the highest division of the NCAA ... Tech and ULM - not so much

That explains why both Tech & ULM have won Nat'l Championships & ULL has not!!!

No disrespect intended.

I think when ulm won that national championship it brought more honor and pride to the university than anything they have accomplished in 1A

Me too, but what happens when they get the mess beat out them. This happens way more than pulling off a major upset-just think it comes down to apples and oranges when lsu play usl
