Using tech to calls pitches is no different than using replay to get calls correct

To all the purist out there, technology isn’t going away. That ship has sailed. But that was a shitty experience for the players & fans to watch a guy with no clue call a game at that magnitude.
NCAA should be embarrassed.

Neither the batter, pitcher, or catcher had any idea on any remotely close pitch.

It was equally miserable for anyone & everyone. It’s time to remove this from happening. You want to make the game more watchable, make it consistent. It’s probably the easiest fix out there.

I’ve never in my 48 yrs, not even once, ever seen a more INCONSISTENT zone by an UMP.
Watching the UMP Cam replay would be hysterical it were anyone other than LSU playing.
It looks almost purposeful……………..hmmm

Except using tech to call balls and strikes is instant.

It’s really the only way forward and will likely be adopted within the next several years.
Watching pro games is interesting because they have a clearly marked strike zone for the viewers at home. That’s too much to ask for the paramount event of college baseball, though.

I agree. I want AI. Having a human umpire calling balls/strikes is like in football having an official make a call on pass interference on EVERY SINGLE PLAY!!!!! Take the imperfect human judgement out of the game!!!! It’s crazy!!

Sorry. Too much at stake to just allow teams to play it out fair and square on the field. Some of you will never learn.

I have the solution that keeps the "drama" there on the calls.
Ump has an ear piece. AI tells him ball or strike instantly. He still calls it out loud. On strike 3, he gets to show some flare. For the players and people in the park, nothing seems different except the calls are all perfect.

This is the way

The human mind and eye are apt to multiple influences which can affect it's opinions and beliefs. Think today's politics as an example.
I am ready for a computer/laser mechanism to ensure fair calls at the plate. It is so damn obvious that some of those 'opinions' were outrageously erratic and flawed. Screw tradition, when it leads to injustice re the players.

It's time for a computer to call balls and strikes. Still need the ump behind the plate for everything else they do, which is a lot. I'd be all for it if I was an umpire. It would allow you to focus on a lot of other parts of the game.

If they allow an unbiased program to call strikes, how will they alter the games? They can't, and this is why you will never see this in any sport.
Anything Vegas is involved in is corrupt. I don't understand why people can't grasp this.

But it could be. If we can put someone on the moon we can figure it out.

On check swings, leave up to the ump whether he went or not

Then maybe we can get robots to bat.

Agree, it’s time. Waiting for purist to suggest that an umpire can over-rule the computer/AI when it is a center cut strike but catcher drops it. I’m tired of “it’s part of the game” arguments; just get it right.
