If you give the students more tickets, eventually the entire area will be packed just because no where else will be had.

So IMO, the students should get more tickets.

Yes they will continue to cram in, but just like anything else, you can only cram so much before it starts to spill.

To the poster saying, in my day you couldn't find the stairs... Maybe in your day the students had access to more seats, but because of the ending of the dark ages, fire marshals began to step in and said, you gotta decrease tickets in this area.

Just a thought.

If you offered 20,000 student tickets for the NEZ but kept the student section the same size, I guarantee you it would fill up and pill over into the rest of the NEZ. Unfortunately it's not the safest thing.

It's been past that time for several years.

I've been lurking the boards for a long time but I just need to jump in on this topic.

Currently a senior at LSU and purchased season tickets when I can afford the time and money to the games. This year I was fortunate to do so and haven't missed a game. Stayed to the end of every game and sang the alma mater as well.

Personally, I was never certain the NEZ endzone was SS. Usually when my group tries to find seats, we take the NWZ where the shade sets in faster.

I agree, the NEZ was empty but the SS, especially in the NWZ zone was packed. Not to bash the supporters of TAF that pay more out of their pockets but I noticed that the entire Eastern side was pretty sparse by mid 3Q.

Students are trying to avoid standing in too much sun for too long, doesn't seem like other fans disagree with that mindset.

This x1000. During 2;30 games if you sit in the NEZ you will be fried by the sun for almost 3 quarters. Since students can choose where they sit, why would you not sit farther west? Also i find it funny when someone says "Students suck, Im there to actually watch the game" and "if you dont want to make noise give your ticket up" in the same breath. As a student IM there to actually watch the game. I sit as high as possible so i can see all the action, and i try and watch the game with a knowledgeable and discerning eye. Im not going to be acting like a drunk fool and screaming on every play. Getting drunk and socializing leads to more noise than "actually watching the game." Seriously go in a group of drunk people that are just hanging out and yell, they will join in for no reason. So much conflicting logic going on in here.

non-athlete students contribute VERY little to the AD ..

False. TAF has a collegiate club which is involved in promoting everything Tiger Athletics and is growing each year at LSU. We only have to put up a minimum of $10 a year but I would call that a contribution. Also, the student section is the most intimidating section in Tiger Stadium. As for taking all of our tickets, you must be out of your damn mind.

It's not really the section. It's the students in general. They sporadically leave and the upper Seats are naturally going to move down to better seats.

"sidewalk fans" manage to spend $10 too I'm sure.

Yea, well the $10 isn't that big of a deal. haha. Plus we get 2 student priority points a year for away/bowl games and 1 regular priority point that probably costs alums up to $1000. Yea, we're pretty spoiled I'd say. We also pay 3,000 or more a semester to educate ourselves at this fine university. Maybe our off the field contributions are limited, but in Tiger Stadium I'm pretty sure we're one of the loudest student sections in the nation.

I'm so proud of you! But guess what dumb arse, without students, you don't have a football team or university....

You're an idiot. I never said do away with the student section or shut down the university. Truth is, outside of the actual team, the students don't really do shite to keep the program in the elite status as far as money, facilities, etc. I just said give them less tickets if they can't fill their section of the stadium. It's been brought to my attention that that's the section dedicated to high school coaches and other guests. I watched the replay and that would make sense. If was empty before kick off but filled up mid-way through the 1st quarter. Then it emptied out again at halftime and filled back up a few minutes into the 3rd.

Btw, if they did away with the entire student section in Tiger Stadium LSU would still sell out every home game.

Take a look at thedeathvalley's sig picture, there is section far more concentrated than any other area in the stadium. That would be the student section.

I had a thread similar to this and got hammered for it. I say reduce students tickets and sell to ones who want to be there.

the student that spends a whopping $14 for a ticket is far far more vital to the program than that fan watching on TV at home ... i am sure he's yelling "suck that tiger dick" at his HDTV, though ..

There's a reason the players want to defend the NEZ in OT games.

You know what, screw you guys. When I started at LSU, getting tickets was as easy as buying them from another student. If you wanted to bring a non student, you simply went to the ticket office, paid the difference from student price to face value, and they put a sticker on it. Then, the AD started the student ticket exchange and putting your id on your ticket, did away with the sticker, and made it next to impossible to sell your tickets as you had to do it 48 hrs before gametime. All this did was made it harder for students without tickets to get tickets, and added a "fee" to all the transactions. Remember, theres 27,000 students at LSU, and I believe only 14,000 student tickets (might be more now). It wasnt broke, there was no need to fix it. The student section is a huge part of Tiger Stadium. Theres a reason why the team always chooses that endzone to defend in Overtime.
