I posted this on the scoreboard last night, a poster asked I bring it to tRant.

Just food for thought going into the week.

Team efficiencies are based on the point contributions of each unit to the team's scoring margin, on a per-play basis. The values are adjusted for strength of schedule and down-weighted for "garbage time" (based on win probability). The scale goes from 0 to 100; higher numbers are better and the average is roughly 50 for all categories. Efficiencies update daily during the season.

Ranks are national. *The LSU and UF numbers have been updated since I did this last night. I'm not going to update their opponent numbers. If you're curious, here is the LINK for you to reference.

LSU: Offensive efficiency: #4 at 94.9 Update: #4 at 93.1
UF: Offensive efficiency: #31 at 68.8 Update: # 48 at 59.0

LSU: Defensive efficiency: #40 at 65.6 Update: #36 at 68.4
UF: Defensive efficiency: #17 at 77.1 Update: #11 at 84.8

LSU: Overall: #6 at 91.7 Update: #6 at 90.6
UF: Overall #14 at 82.0 Update: #12 at 82.1

LSU opponents ranks in Off. & Def Eff.: These numbers are as of Oct. 5th

Georgia S.: #116 at 22.06-Off. and #79 at 46.28-Def.
Texas: #7 at 83.5-Off. and #56 at 59.2- Def.
NWST: N/A
Vandy: #71 at 41.7-Off. and #125 (out of 130) at 18.8-Def.
Utah St.: #74 at 46.0-Off. and #15 at 79.7-Def.

UF opponents rans in Off. & Def. Off.: These numbers are as of Oct. 5th

Miami: #44 at 61.1-Off. and #37 at 66.8-Def.
UT-Martin: N/A
Kentucky: #72 at 46.2 -Off. and #45 at 62.5 -Def.
Tennessee: #110 at 27.1-Off. and #78 at 46.9-Def.
Towson: N/A
Auburn: #12 at 78.2-Off. and #10 at 86.3-Def.

I watched the AU/UF game, (missed some of the turnovers getting my pregnant wife lunch) like most of you did I assume, and both teams have outstanding D-lines. However, secondaries look suspect. UF's looked awesome in the box score due to Nix being abysmal all game with BAD sacks, bad INT's, and bad/under and over throws to open WRs. Some of that can be chalked up to UF pass rush and blitzs sure, but he was exceptionally bad as well.

This whole game featured big plays and short field TDs. If I am not mistaken, not one solid, multiple play drive was sustained that ended in a score.

I don't see UF being able to drive it down the field on us, could be wrong of course, but I think Trask is too one-dimensional to march it down on us consistently.

If Auburn plays like they did today against us, it'll be a UGLY day for them in Death Valley.

After watching the game, I think the same as I did going into todays game: LSU must hold back their D-lines and we will win. If not, could be too close for comfort.

TL;DR: Schedules and stats show both LSU and UF haven't exactly played top notch teams this year. Our best opponent was UT, theirs AU. Both AU and UF D-lines are legit but I'm not sure their offenses will be enough to beat our Tigers.

Change “be” to “are” in the last line and I’ll upvote for a great post!

This game comes down to the offensive front. If they can keep pressure off of Joe, LSU wins comfortably. If Joe has time, the gators can’t stop LSU. Going to need a massive few weeks out of Charles at LT.

I’d love to see Brady and Ensminger utilize their WR screen game, especially early. Wear our that front from UF by making them run and hitting them with Tempo.

Final: LSU 31 - UF 21

I meant for it to say "will be" and forgot the "will the first time around.

We will either blow them out or win a close one. If they can’t get pressure on Burrow, we put up 45+ and if the defense plays like yesterday, they don’t score more than 17.

2011 aside, when have we ever skulldrug Florida? I think if the O-line keeps JB upright, we’ll pull it out, but it’s not going to be a blowout.

2013.
When’s the last time we had a decent pass blocking offensive line?
I’m not arguing. I just think that we need to see if the O-line can handle business against a legit front 7 before we start talking about blowing folks(like UF and Aub) out.
Of coarse, we won’t know until after the game, but it is what it is. It’s the only group that remains a question mark. Question will be answered Saturday night.

I agree with this especially with Grantham and his tendency to bring a lot of pressure.

You right. All boils down to our offensive and defensive lines.

You dont have to work for NASA to see the most important stats in this game. UF leads the SEC in sacks and Int's and not by a little... by a lot. 24 sacks and 12 Ints. Sacks are drive killers. Pressure on the QB forces bad throws and decisions. This is why UF is 5-0.

If we pass protect and take care of the football we should do OK.
