I know this was a great hitting team with a lot of power (8 guys with double digit HRs), but we had almost no interest in stealing bases. Albeit, Crews, Pearson, and Thompson were the only regular starters with good speed.

not sure where you are getting #13.

Regular season 10-1
SEC Tourney 0-1
Regional 1-0
Super Regional 1-0
CWS 0-0

equals 12-2

Rewriting the record books this year LSU Single Season Record Places (based on LSU published record book). Might have missed some.

Dylan Crews-
Golden Spikes Winner (only other Golden Spikes winner was Ben McDonald)
Walks - 71 (#3)
BA - 0.426 (#2)
Hits - 110 (T-#1)
OBP - 0.567 (not listed but has to be #1)
Runs - 100 (#1)
Total Bases - 184 (T-#8)

Paul Skenes-

K/BB 10.45 (?)
Ks - 209 (#1)
K/9 - 15.33 (#1)

WHIP - 0.75 (?)

Tommy White-

Doubles - 24 (T-#8)
Hits - 102 (T-#10)
Home Runs - 24 (#9)
RBIs - 105 (#3)
SLG% - 0.725 (?)
Total Bases - 198 (#6)

Team Records
LOB - 635 (#1). New LSU Team Record for runners left on base.
Strikeouts - 798 (#1). Shattered the old record of 682.
K/9 - 11.2 (#1)

Found the NCAA Record book. And this team shattered the NCAA Team Strikeout Record!

Old record was 732 by Arizona State in 1972. New Record is 798! Geaux Tigers!

Eta: not too shabby for a 1 pitcher team.

Wrong again. I guess the record book link on NCAA.com is old or busted. Sorry not an NCAA record.

I think LSU also set a new NCAA Record with 143 HBP at the plate!

Old record was 130 by 2005 Notre Dame.

Eta: Nope, didn't think to check this year. Campbell is #1 with 146. I guess that puts LSU at #2 all time.

I’m almost positive he was the winning pitcher against Tennessee in the opening round.

Everyone was bitching about this but all these LOB meant we were putting a lot of men on base and sooner or later we’d drive them in

You're right. I guess Campbell set the new record and LSU is #2. There were actually 4 teams that broke the old record this year (Campbell, LSU, UC Irvine, and Kentucky), and Southeastern tied the record in 2022.

I think it's safe to say that the lowered seams and current emphasis on spin rate has resulted in a rise in HBP.

I would have thought so also, except both LSUsports.net and the NCAA.org websites do not indicate so, both have the Tennessee game as a no decision for Skenes.
