Why just waste a year of eligibility when he can still go pro next year either way?

Because he does not need it. Sit out a year and get your life together. Return to the field in shape, healthy, and ready to kick arse. Enter 2014 draft as the best defensive playmaker in your class and with a hell of a determination/pride-swallowing/retribution story.

You don't have to be on a team for a season to be considered a redshirt year.

If you are suspended by the NCAA or not eligible by NCAA standards, which isn't the case here, then you lose the year and can't use it as a redshirt.

He must be on the team to red shirt and a one year suspension would prevent him from being on the team, hence red shirt not an option.

So, if you just sit out...would that not be same thing as saving 1 of your 4 years to play?

Please explain why he would forfeit the year by sitting and being a student at LSU.

Where it gets hairy is whether he can work out with the team.

I think cleaning his image is more important than going pro in 2013.

That must have been what I was thinking.

Training facilities would be off limits according to the rules.

He would still be on the team, just off scholarship. Im just relaying what they have been saying on 104.5. They could be full if shite. He can rs, play in 13 and 14 if LSU allows him back.

The guy has supposedly broken down. He wants to play at LSU. They are now taking action to see if it is even possible for him to come back.

Once again, he will never be on scholly fir LSU. Who wouldnt want a TM7 that doesnt count against ur 85? What school would be that stupid?

This is a really dumb decision on his part if he really goes through with it. Go to McNeese, play hard, get drafted in the 4th round and start getting paid to be a special teams guy. Hopefully he could get at least one multi-million dollar contract in a few years. Silly to waste a year doing nothing IMO.

Yeah, Alejandro, we know. You're all about taking the easy way out.

He can still leave after next year even if he redshirts. Nobody is saying he will stay two more years if he redshirts, just that it would be senseless not to use it in case something completely unexpected happens.

I agree. If he is able to revamp his reputation and remain as dominant, or even get better, he could end up being a 1st rounder in the 2014 season. It's high risk, but again if he pulls it off he will be much better off than just transferring and going 4th round in the 2013 draft.

I have a feeling that if the LSU Officials and Les Miles allow Tyrann back he will have a lot of community service on his plate along with at least a drug test once a week, if not more. He will have to "prove" to the nation that he deserves this second chance.

I'm all for it. Tyrann has been very mature with how he has carried himself after being released. It's so easy for a kid to be pissed off and take it out over Facebook and Twitter. Instead he was very humble.

How would it not be possible? It was an LSU rule, not an NCAA one

All miles has to do is say "ok you're back".

In theory.

Look you have zero argument against not redshirting. He can still leave whenever the frick he wants. Most people were saying no way he has same kind of year. Maybe it will take that extra year to prove he has matured. Mayne he will go to mcneese get drafted in 13. But if he stays at lsu, why not redshirt him when he is already sitting out. It doesnt change the fact he is 3 years removed from highschool. So Josh D gets a medical rs. Should we just have said no?
