The post was edited to show that Tony had passed. I think the comments that followed were from the original post about his MI and that he was expected to recover. The post that followed the original post were never edited. The dates posted should reflect that.

Very sad day for family, former players, friends and all college baseball fans..Coach Rob death can be a life lesson to everyone....don't ignore chest pains ...if they last more than a couple of hrs(much less 5 days)than seek help and if you are a diabetic monitor your blood sugar and don't let it get out of control(much less over 500)..thru Coaches death many lives can be saved by learning the warning signs and not ignoring them!

Did this happen with Coach Robe? All I know is what was reported. That's why this is shocking. Was reported initially that he had a minor heart attack and was receiving stints and prognosis was good. Then he was in New Orleans and in critical condition. Hard to wrap my head around this. He wasn't in that bad of shape. Maybe heart disease runs in his family. Whatever the case it's sad to see him pass at such a young age.

He wasn’t in it for the money. He wasn’t in it for glory. He wasn’t in it for anything other than making the boys that he brought into the school there into men. He achieved his goal. He did a great job.”

Man, this is really sad. I can still remember his team being two runs down and winning in the bottom of the 9th in an elimination game at Rosenblatt in the World Series on a safety squeeze bunt and overthrow that scored two runs. The guy on 1st base scored came all the way around to score the winning run on a bunt. It didn't matter who you were a fan of, that was a great and memorable ending. And he was a memorable coach. RIP.

Ahead of the funeral mass set for Monday, visitation will take place Sunday, July 7, from 3-9 p.m. at the Cajundome Convention Center. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.

An additional visitation period will occur on Monday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Johnston Street in Lafayette.

Monday's funeral mass will follow the visitation at Our Lady of Fatima, beginning at 2 p.m.

Burial will take place in Crowley following the funeral mass. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley is handling arrangements.

Don't know if this has been shared, but here are the details of funeral.
As a UL grad, thanks for all of the kind words. I didn't know him, but everyone associated with the school is proud of Coach Robe. He was a man any institution would have been happy to have on board.
