Delaying to spring is the same thing as canceling. No one would care and all the elite talent would opt out to prepare for the draft

This is code for “Oh shite, the other conferences didn’t say they agree with us. What can we say to make people happy again?”

The SEC and ACC are making them look like pussies, of course they'll turn on their word and play.

They're not discussing delaying until spring. Until later in Sept like the SEC. The SEC delayed as well.

ACC and SEC are only conferences with big balls. Other conferences should take notes

ETA: The Big 10 miscalculated bigly when they just assumed other conferences would cave and follow their lead. The PAC 12 is the only one who follows their lead

You can always cancel in a month if games aren’t supposed to start until late September. Not that there will be a cure by then but gives teams and universities time to continue to prepare.

The reluctance for ANYBODY to grow a sack and make a decision is staggering to me.

Rather them cancel than move to spring. That decision would be idiotic.

This is a sensible stance to take right now. Let’s see how things go with the kids being back in school for awhile before we make any decision. It may turn out that having kids in class is fine and we see no significant impact from it or it may all go to shite quickly. We are playing with an unknown right now. It would be more difficult to grant an extra year of eligibility for these players if we get through half a season and have to cancel versus missing an entire season or playing the season later in the year.

I’m still unclear on why anyone thinks we’ll be in a different situation late in September than in early September. Because nothing is going to change by then.

BREAKING NEWS: There WILL be more spread when people get together, regardless of whether it’s in class, on campus, or at bars/etc.

Who needs to wait and see what is going to happen? We’ve already seen it multiple times. This “reopen and let’s see” idea is total bullshite, and it just opens the door for shutting back down. Open it up, or resume, and keep it that way. Period.

Things will never return to normal until the powers that be come to terms with the fact that there WILL BE INCREASED NEW CASES when things open. Opening only to immediately panic and close it down again is worse than just keeping everything shut.

Can there still be a playoff and national champion without 2 conferences playing? Or just have a SEC championship?

I would assume that the CFP is not even being considered for this season. Same for the bowls.

Agreed. It's like they want to tiptoe their way into normal life. And with this, there's no way to tiptoe your way into it. It's jump in and deal with the new cases for a month, and then watch things slowly but surely improve. And that is not gonna go away. We can either do it now, six months from now, a year from now, however the frick long they want to drag it on.
