don't know that I agree. Les would have beat UF in 2016. I think he beats Troy and ND in 2017 and possibly Mississippi State.

I agree on UF and Troy, but if we beat Troy we don’t play ND. We are probably in a NY6 Bowl.

I’ll also throw out the chance that we beat Alabama in 2016. The D would have still shut them down but Miles was never handled by Saban like that on offense in Tiger Stadium.

Shutout, 125 yards, and SIX first downs???

We outperformed expectations every year in Death Valley and I think that was the year he finally got him. Whatever is happening this year, doesn’t change the fact that O and E were clearly not ready at that point to win that game. They were in over their heads and it showed.

Since we’re speculating, of course

No, History doesn't indicate that at all. 2014 was LSU's only double digit loss to Auburn in Miles 12 games vs them. That was the game that Freshman Brandon Harris started with disastrous results, IIRC.

Would he have won? History wouldn't necessarily indicate that either, Miles was 2/4 at Jordan Hare though only 2014 had a margin of victory of more than 7 points.

I'm not gonna worry about whether Les would have done better or worse than O. Les was a great coach at LSU, his record speaks for itself. But he is not the coach, Ed Orgeron is.

I didn't like the hire but O is our coach and I hope he wins every game he ever coaches at LSU from this point on. And I find myself really warming up to him, it may not be the rational part of me but who cares. I'll enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Why? Miles got Etling, did he not?

I'll say this about Miles - for whatever reason, I thought we had a chance to win before every game we played. Alternatively, I don't feel the same with Orgeron.

But, when you're right, you're right - instead of 2 straight wins against Auburn, we probably would have suffered 2 straight losses.

He never lost to Auburn at home, so how do you just assume he would have last year?

No because that literally wouldn’t have happened

And I think Les would have lost the game

OP is just like Les - words came out of his mouth but you were left scratching your head wondering exactly what he meant!

With Coach Miles , chances are we would have won the weaker than usual SEC last Year ! his time management was not any better or worse than most other coaches !

1. Retain Aranda (admittedly a coach Les hired)
2. Rebuild both lines (still have a way to go, but much, much improved)
3. Increased staff capacity by increasing the consultants to more closely mirror Bama

Well we know 1 and 2 would be happened under Les considering he hire aranda to shore up the defense and hired O to help with DLINE recruiting.

Not sure about 3

Hmm interesting thought process and definitely plausible.

Too many variables... start with, do all of the OL that quit, left, or got drafted do the same, or stay on to play for Les?

Does he sign Cam Akers or another top RB?

Impossible to speculate, but could Les have won that game Saturday...sure he could have. Just like if that first INT doesn't happen, or 1 of the PI calls doesn't happen, O would have lost.

No way to know.

Burrow would be elsewhere because he would never have wanted to play in Miles' "ground and pound" offense.

Les owned Auburn and no telling what the offensive staff looked like or who the QB would be.

I'm assuming Les was never going to let Cam go, so he probably would have still been here. But I do think based on what we saw in the past, Les would have rolled through last seasons schedule til November again. So we'd probably have more wins actually.
