Then, why not throw more. Why run 75% of the time if can be wildly productive throwing? What happen to the pedal to the medal approach O told us about last year? You do realize that if not for a dumb play by their punter which gifted us a TD we end the game scoring on two field goals the whole second half.

Great defensive effort, normal rushing game, good passing percentage, and mediocre passing yardage/passing TDs.

A solid win with a question as to where is the beef in the passing game.

Of course you say it was underthrown.

Did you watch the play? Obviously not...it WAS under thrown. If he leads him, he scores standing up.

Our passing attack was no more impressive that what we had with Miles. The completion % was high granted, but yards were under 200 and total attempts were relatively low.
I get that we're not showing much now. Thats why I said we need to continue to work on it.

You are one of the kings of negative around here. One of the worst parts about football season is your return to the board.

Not saying that needs to be our offense, but we need to be capable of doing so or else we will continue to be a second or third place team in the SEC.
FWIW, I for one agree with you.

However, just because we haven't done it yet (with a new OC & system), doesn't automatically mean we do not have the capability.

We will find out when we need it. Just the way it is.

If we came out and passed 60 times for 50 completions on Chattanooga, then most would say we still haven't proven anything yet because not a good enough D.

So I reiterate, we will only get a chance to prove it when we have to prove it. All we, fans, have right now is the option of assuming they will, or assuming they won't. I choose to assume they will until I have egg on my face.

This is debatable. In that situation if you overthrow it then there is no chance. If you make sure you don't overthrow it, i.e. it's either going to be dead nuts on or underthrown, you give your WR a chance to fight for it and make the play.

Considering the 2nd man was so far behind it's going to be a 1-on-1 battle, Chark had the size advantage, Chark also had the knowing what's coming advantage (to locate the ball early enough and that an adjustment might be needed) you would want to NOT overthrow that ball, even at the expense of underthrowing it.

If it was double coverage, less separation, or no skill/height advantage... yeah- lean towards overthrow and not take the risk of a turnover.

Not sure I follow you. So having an effective run game is irrelevant?

Because it was unnecessary given the opponent.

Because controlling the clock and minimizing turnover potential wins games.

It's game one under a new system. We looked great, and yet chicken littles like you are already questioning it. You haven't seen the entire offense.

This doesn't merit any response.

Finally a sensible post. Although I would argue practicing in an actual game doesn't hurt.

So abandon the run at all cost to prove we can drive down the field entire length of field throwing? Makes no sense

We won't win the SEC again until our offense is competent at driving the length of the field via 10-20 yards passes.

Bama seems to do it every year without issue. Your assessment has been refuted. Move along.

Defense was their problem. Passing helped them put up 44 points. Sad I have to point this out to you.

And besides, I never said abandon the run. Just said there will come a time when you need to pass to pull it out.

Controlling the clock and tempo of the game would have surely helped in the 4th quarter, no?

At some point it becomes clear that some tools are beyond repair and you sadly move on and let them live a life of mediocrity. You are that tool my friend.

Skips the point, goes to personal insult. Game, set, match for me.
