How'd passing work out for A&M the other night?
I don't think he's saying that's how the offense should be game in and game out.

I think he's saying we need to show it so that opponents fear it. Give them much more to think about, plan for, and key before we step on the field.

IF that's what he's saying, I agree. Problem is, no one will believe it, or fear it, until we do it against a SEC defense when they know it's coming (like a 2 or 4 min drill).

You haven't been around much lately. Figures, still pissed about Miles. I've been one of the biggest and most positive CEO supporters since he was hired permanently.
But the passing display the other night was mediocre by any standards. Just safe throws...nothing more. I wouldn't expect a peon like you to understand anything about the state of the passing game though.

Right, I was happy he was fired so I haven't been around because he's gone. Typical you logic.

Is Alabama capable of driving the length of the field with only passing? The answer is, you are dumb

I get what you're saying...but I think your delivery was misleading.

What I took from it:

If need be our passing game needs to be good/fluid enough to drive an entire field through the air. If we need a quick score, 2 minute drill, etc.

This is difficult to do for every team.

Short.....controlled....vanilla.....safe...I can't type any s..l..o..w..e..r. You do understand these adjectives as they relate to the passing game right? Any high school could have completed these passes.

Amen goon!!! I agree you don't have to throw the ball 59 times a game to win. especially with the running backs we have but you do have to be able to throw it 8-10-12 times in a row under certain circumstances with a high level of efficiency to be able to come back and win close games. We havent displayed this in either the talent of our qbs or in the play calling of our coaches UNTIL NOW. Now we have the qbs and the OC to make it happen when necessary. I promise there is a 45 passes thrown game coming in our near future especially with our up and coming young guns!!!

How can anyone argue against this?? That's the reason why we're 0-6 against Bama, barring '13 when our defense was down that year. Lack of a competent passing game is why everyone wanted Miles gone! Y'all are something else! Everyone knows we can run and play great defense. That's why Nick Saban stacks the box and dares us to throw on them, bc they don't respect our passing game!

I swear y'all must all live in the same damn frat house and anyone that disagree with y'all you get all butt hurt and emotional. All the man trying to say is against SCRUB teams like BYU, Chattanooga, and Syracuse, we SHOULD work on passing more! Get your head out of your asses, have an abstract thought, step out of your comfort zone.

Alabama has no such restrictions or needs and they seem to win pretty frequently.

Canada knows the passing game a hell of a lot better than me, but I was surprised by all the running. Not that running the ball down the other teams throat is a bad plan, but just cause I thought the O would be more balanced.

I am sure he has a reason for running so much. Hopefully, the O will be more balanced as the season moves along.

You have to spend a considerable amount of time on this at the expense of other important parts of your team. Did you watch the A&M game? Do you want to be Texas tech? This is not a video game. You don't just flip a switch and do nothing but throw the ball around everywhere efficiently nor should we. Do you know how much the time of possession and the toll that takes on an opponent changes when you put the ball in the air that much?? You completely change the complexion of your team. not only is what you said dumb, but we are all dumber for having read it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

It's truth. Every big time match-up with another great team requires a big time drive under crunch time. Bama beat us several times recently because they could chuck it down the field with under two minutes left.

How are yall downvoting this? Its completely true. Look at the Clemson Bama 'ship.

Do yall even fricking read? Did all of you fail reading comprehension? The OP didnt say LSU needs to be a passing attack offense. He said there will come a time this year in SEC play when a long sustained passing drive will be required to put points on the board. That is undeniably true and has consistently been the biggest complaint about LSUs offense since forever from even those that supported the previous coaching staff.

Jeezus people.

This is by far the the most invalid response yet. Using Texas A&M game for an excuse for passing too much. That was all 3rd and Chavis asshat. You should know bc we have been on the losing end of Chavis prevent defense too! If we pass well enough to be up 44-10, then I'd say the passing game did its job. No way in hell Aranda let's that happen.

So abandon the run at all cost to prove we can drive down the field entire length of field throwing? Makes no sense

Nobody is saying "abandon the run". I think what many are alluding to is that under Less Smiles the team never got much practice throwing the ball in live game action against inferior opponents or when the game was in-hand. QBs and receivers need game-time passing to get in sync, rhythm and get comfortable. When you find youself up three TDs or more with little time left in the game for like half your opponents on your schedule then thats the time you should be throwing the ball in preparation for the tougher games when you might have to throw the ball either down on the scoreboard or against an opponent thats stuffing the run.

Less Smiles was fine bashing lesser opponents heads in with the run all game even up big. Then when LSU faced tough fronts or stacked boxes that hosed down his cloud of dust he would scratch his head and wonder why his QBs couldnt complete a simple quick out route or 5 yard hitch.
