How do you guys feel about Kevin Faulk being arrested in 1996 for "battery of a police officer" but then being allowed to play and represent LSU in the season opener against Houston. Why wasn't he kicked off the team due to the negative attention he brought to LSU?

so whats up with the reinstatement of JJ affecting LSUs budget theory?
You seemed to run away from that topic pretty quickly without elaborating

How can you tell me that?
Look...here's my long winded take on this whole mess. Bear with me...
I've hated this entire thing from the moment I read about it here. As an LSU fan, I hated to think some of "our" guys had been involved in anything like what was being reported. And from the beginning, I didn't think it benefited anyone to run around spreading rumors about what may or may not have happened that night, and more specifically what WE'D DO if it turned out to be true if we were Miles. To me, it always seemed to be more prudent to simply sit back, not speculate, not spread rumors and to wait and see what happened.
But we all know that's not what took place. Almost immediately there was a rush of LSU fans who could not wait to toss a group of LSU players under the bus, with Jefferson being the prime target. And what seemed to be the biggest similarity all of these folks had in common? A previous dislike for the guy as both a player and a person...and a general feeling that Lee would be better for the team. This fueled the rumor mill, the speculation, and the venom that was posted and spewed pretty much everywhere for an entire week.
And those of us who semi-defended Jefferson from these attacks? We were labeled Team Sweep, as if anyone was seriously suggesting that had something terrible happened it should be swept under the rug. The irony of that claim in almost all cases was that those of us doing the defending would not exactly claim that Jefferson was or had been a great QB, and most of us would also tell anyone who would listen that as a player JJ had been EXTREMELY frustrating to watch. Given that, in no way was our defense of the guy driven by protecting LSU football!! On the flip side, those who were eagerly tossing JJ under the bus were doing it almost solely BECAUSE of on the field issues, not off the field ones!! They were so desperate to have the guy they felt was the problem for the offense removed from the equation that they were willing to toss an LSU player right under the wheel LONG before we really knew anything about what happened.
And now that he's been arrested? Those same folks, having gotten what they wanted in terms of "their guy" under center for the time being, are suggesting that JJ should simply slink away and never look back. Sure...the guy is claiming he's innocent, but so what, right? that's what GUILTY people do!! Of course...it's also what innocent people do...isn't it? But why would we give him the benefit of the doubt if it means there's a slim chance that he could end up back under center in 2001, right?
I don't know what the right thing to do for Miles here. It's a shitty situation and an even worse time for the team and for Jefferson as a player on it. I lean towards Miles still upholding the suspension for the time being, yet at the same time I feel for the guy potentially losing his senior season if it turns out he did little more than get in a fight...despite what we've yet to hear about it. And worse yet, I feel for the guy for the way he's been treated by LSU fans for simply playing below their expectations. Up until this incident, he's done nothing off the field to warrant even a mention...and yet to the average LSU fan today you would think he was Ted fricking Bundy.

Dioes any one really think Miles will meet with lawyer today? that would be beyond stupid to think the lawyer can change his mind and lift the suspension

Not gonna happen. Unglesby will never give in to a cut-rate real estate lawyer.
You don't seem to understand how it works.
Unglesby's not dealing with a "cut-rate real estate lawyer" right now. He's dealing w/ the EBRP DA's office. They're the ones who may or may not prosecute this case.
Bienvenu and Lowery have nothing to do with it at this point. That's the civil end of it (which I think will probably go away, anyway).

I don't disagree with this at all......I just feel the whole thing is blown out of proportion because of people's choice of QB's...This is what bothers me.

If there really is a lawyer on here and he wants to argue with the rant, let him go represent Jefferson. Kids needs all of the legal help he can get based soley on his association with Fisher and now Unglesby.

You have 32,00 posts on a message board, and seem to argue with CPT Bengal every day, so it does appear that you are somewhat concerned about this, yes.
I post to CptBengal because he amuses me. He's funny. He doesn't intend to be, but he's funny.
I also post to educate and inform the masses.
I also post to take breaks from my work.
Thanks for caring.

However, that is clearly not the case at LSU.
Maybe LSU's policy is specific to being charged with a felony?

RP pulls a gun and gets a slap on the wrist.

T-Bob drives drunk and gets a short suspension.
Listen, my biggest issue with the possible reinstatement of JJ is this. As he is going through the legal process, he will no doubt have several meetings with his attorney, with the DA, with a judge, etc. etc. All of this meetings during the judicial process will most certainly take time away from his preparation. So he will be in no mental state of mind to play. But if he is reinstated (even if he doesn't start) he will be taking practice reps away from players that may need those reps (not no saying in place of JL or ZM). Also, the fact that he might be there for some practices, might not be there for others can create a big distraction for the other players, all of whom also want to have a great season. So by saying that Miles needs to take care of JJ (I know those weren't your exact words), you are basically saying that JJ's desire to be with teammates should be more important to Miles than the wants and desires of the other 100 or so members of the team. Miles' job is to do what is in the best interest of the team...not one individual player.
