Man, did this guy have a hell of a pro career. Talk about longevity, it sounds like Eugene was a bit of a ball hawk like Tyrann Mathieu. It appears that he was a few pro bowls short of a potential Hall of Fame career.

Honestly, he was pretty mediocre as a collegiate. Similar football trajectory as Danny McCrae.
…..and Dan Alexander.

Nice guy, too. Had some classes with him. With that said his success in the NFL was amazing. His LSU career was rather 'so-so.'

It’s all about skiing. He always had talent, but at the time played in a zone scheme. He struggle at time with coverage in it. He played more man in the NFL, which under the rules of his upper body strength to jam guys at Line .

He was selected by the Colts in the eighth round (205th overall pick) of the 1984 NFL draft. In his rookie season, he had 6 interceptions. In 1985, Daniel tied Albert Lewis of the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC lead in interceptions, with 8. Had a total of 38 inteceptions for his 14-year career.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Daniels played QB at Lee HS, BR.

Yeah, he was another player who was the subject of much criticism on the Coaches Shows. Every week Coach Stovall, on his Radio Show, would have to answer the "Football Experts" bitching about Daniels.
Then he had an awesome NFL career.

I was 10 when he was drafted in the 8th round, jump forward 13 years & I'm watching him play on Sunday in my house with my wife.

I'm old enough to have seen him play in Tiger Stadium.
He had only 6 college interceptions but 4 were during his 1983 senior season when he led the SEC in that category.
From Pro Football Reference:
8th round draft selection (#205 overall) of the Colts in 1984 NFL draft.
38 career interceptions (91st in NFL history) plus 2 playoff game interceptions.
Started 192 regular season games (152nd in NFL history) and played in 207 games.
Started 2 playoff games and played in 5.
Rated 211th of all DBs in the pro football reference hall of fame monitor stat.
Rated 21st of all LSU NFL players in the pro football reference weighted career approximate value stat and 4th in LSU NFL DBs behind Patrick Peterson, Johnny Robinson, and Tyrann Mathieu.
