certainly mathieu is very talented but RR was rated the no. 2 prospect in the nation by rivals and I didn't see him in the no. 2 spot on depth chart after practicing in shorts and shoulder pads.
just saying.
just saying.

also, this almost has to mean our other corners are not good alternatives.
Why can't you people just accept that sometimes the younger players are more talented. It doesn't mean the older players are bad.

they've been practicing my man. get with the program

Hes running with the 2's right now, but hes not guaranteed #2 behind Peterson. If you remember last fall camp Brooks was running with the 1's at Safety.

uh cus they have had two days of practice in pads now.

then are you saying the competition is poor
Competition is not poor. He was rated the number one player in the state of louisiana last year. We have a lot of talent in the secondary and they all seem to be able to play multiple positions. CB SS FS and even OLB. We all assume pp will leave next year and that would have left us with claiborne. Well if Brooks mathieu and st. julien all get pt this year then that will help us out a lot next year. Calhoun is playing cb, but not sure how well he is doing.

I'm looking at the tigerbait article that says they practiced this morning in helmets and shoulder pads. not full dress. not much real hitting going on like that.

Are you talking about Mathieu? He wasn't #1 in LA last year.

well what else is there? the players can move better in the pants than they can in loose shorts.

mike had him #1. Rated top 5 player in louisiana by most people. So i guess i need to say some people thought he was the best player in LA last year.

Last year, Claiborne was a true frosh listed as Peterson's backup. When it came down to crunch time in the Bama game, the coaches went with experience. Brooks went to CB and McCray went to FS.
I expect the same this year. If Peterson goes down, Eugene or Taylor will slide to CB and Hatcher (or Loston) will fill in at S.
Mathieu may be listed as the top backup, but it's not likely that a true frosh will be trusted in crunch time.

I agree pistol. He may see some pt, but more than likely hatcher and loston will be used at safety and they will move eugene and taylor around if needed.
Claiborne saw some time against tulane and auburn. Those were relatively easy games for the tigers last year.

Sorry, I didn't see that list. All I saw was Trovon Reed, Jordan Allen, and Eric Reid being 1-3.

quote:It has nothing to do with grasping the defense. Corner is not like QB. Corner is about ability and ball skills...some of it can be taught but most of it is natural ability. You can't teach lose hips and the ability to backpedal, turn and run.
it is kind of disheartening that the other corners that have been around for a year or two do not have a better grasp than a player who has only had 4 days of official practice

Who do Yall think the top 4 CB are. Who you think should be in front of him?
1)PP
2)MO
3)RSJ

If you don't know what you are talking about, don't post bullshite. From a passing drills or 7 on 7 standpoint, shells is no different than full pads.

BeeFence I can't speak for everybody. I don't make blanket statements like Miles doesn't play freshman. My problem with Miles is he tends to be loyal at times to coaches or players when he should not be. Coaches as in Malveto who were not qualified for the defensive coordinators job. Crowton being kept around after finishing 112th in total offense. Hitt and Hebert getting pushed around all year without considering making changes on the Oline. Les seems loyal at times when it is not merited.

That list looks like a lot of fail. Trovon Reed commits to Auburn so Scike drops him to 8?

im pretty sure left corner is 1 and right corner is 2
he plays with the 1's yes but hes our #2 corner
just the way i look it. thats like saying chris tolliver is our #2 WR bc tolliver RR and Shep are 1
