You should go frick yourself. All major cities have crime, hell there's senseless crime and murder in BR all the time. No decent sized city is devoid of it so quit talking like a bitch.

Not sure it's the worse, but definitely not a reorder.
However, It's not about the beer, it's about the canal.

But other cities usually have something going for them...good schools, safe streets, efficient government, good culture, strong job market, and a strong taxpayer base.
New Orleans has one of those. New Orleans is dangerous, corrupt, and a bad place to raise children for the average family ($$$). To deny that is just because you can drink in the streets, Mardi Gras, and some old buildings is just ignorant.

Ty gave an interview about the state of the youth in N.O. today and it was tough to listen to LINK

You are a huge douche.
Do you really think you have lived some magnificent life others on here have been unable to accomplish? That you have gained some worldly insight unavailable to the rest of us?
Maybe we have been around and because of that we are able to appreciate the city for what it is and live it that much more. Maybe we understand its a true beauty with some terrible flaws but we see and love that beauty while you are a miserable person who focuses on what scares you.
Maybe you should just beg for that promotion and move to Houston. I think you'd fit in much better there

I love New Orleans but it's ghetto as shite

New Orleans definitely has its challenges and some of them are ridiculous, but there is always a festival, sporting event, convention or something interesting going on that the young and old can enjoy (and there are always great places to go eat at afterwards). Having fun and getting enjoyment out of things is important in all of our (sometimes) boring lives. New Orleans excels in that area.
Also, the people (other than the ones trying to rob/kill you if things don't go right) are really friendly and family-oriented.

good culture
You say "good culture," then ignore the city's cultural offerings and openly scoff at one of the world's biggest cultural celebrations and "old buildings"?

Just because you don't like it, that doesn't make it bad.

I don't jump out of planes because some 5 minute high isn't worth the risk of leaving my family without a father.
I'll take vacation in some other location where I can relax and sleep with my door unlocked for the same reason.
Enjoy your descent into hell Nola residents.

New Orleans has culture, amazing food, always something to do, and tons of history
With that said, if you don't think it's dirty, dangerous, ghetto, and poor, you are in denial.

I don't jump out of planes either because a) I'm a pussy and b) I agree that the risk isn't worth it.
However, the high from the good things about New Orleans (despite the bad things), is continuous, not five minutes long.

If you're sleeping with your door unlocked anywhere, you're naive. Bad things happen all over. But yes, there are many places where you have a better chance of not getting robbed if you leave your doors unlocked at night than New Orleans. And I agree that there is value in that.

The funny part is that these same idiots are more worried about damn statues than the increased murder rate and crime in this gar hole of a city. Don't get me wrong New Orleans is a great city of history an culture, but it's a bit ridiculous when you cant even walk the streets without worrying about being mugged or even killed.
Posted on 4/11/16 at 7:55 am to jp001
Any idea how many tens of thousands walked the streets this weekend in the Quarter and didn't get shot?

The guy is a freaking coward and you can't live your life in fear of anyone. In order to get some you have to bring some.

I am not a hater. I spent more time in Nola in college than I did in baton rouge.. Even engaged to a chalmation at one time.
It's really really bad now.

Not sure what's so funny. It really is one of the most unique and interesting cities in the country, if not the world. That doesn't mean the crime and poverty aren't terrible.

It has gotten worse. But that has more to do, I think, with problems with NOPD, the city administration, and little financial support from the state than it does with the culture/people of the city.
