re: Tyrann Mathieu Tweet: "Games are won on the field not in the weight room."

What rambling? :poof:

I don't get the hate for this quote. If a coach said this about a workout warrior or a gym rat, whose effort didn't show that on the field, people would be singing his praises. The only thing that people hate is the fact that a player is speaking his mind. I'm sick of society pissing on ever little thing a player says, but yet these same people who hold high such standings in their own lives, act like complete jackholes over the internet where they can be anonymous.
You are no saint so don't try to act so high and mighty.

He is not the only one that tweeted this. Big deal.

4 times is just plain sad for someone that has aspirations to do anything physcial for a career.
I'm a little bit taller and slightly heavier than Mathieu and I can throw up 225 about 11-12 times.

He does. You don't remember the tweet where he said something along the lines of 'Don't read The tiger rant those people are harsh''

Nothing that wrong with the quote because let's face it, no one was going to look at TM because they thought of him as a "physical" DB. He's just a guy with a good knack for the ball and good football skills.
That said, the kid should probably shut up and play for a bit. He's not so impressive an athlete that teams aren't going to also pay attention to what they think of what's between his ears.
He needs to go with the "let them think.......rather than opening your mouth and removing doubt" approach.

U "football fans" do realize that ya'll are speaking of easily the greatest fumble forcer (statistically) in the history of the college game, right?
Ya'll ever seen the Sport Science show detailing the physics calculations of the coefficient of static friction of the ball in a carriers hand with the new gloves that came about a few years ago (which require 30% more force to cause a fumble)?
Its a massive amount of force it takes to dislodge the ball. Weight lifting / bench press is simply a scientific physics calculation. But so is forcing a fumble, but its a bit more complex. Millions of people can bench press well.
Very, very few can do what Ty does with his hand n arms. U meatheads wanna diss on him for his benchin, go head. This is a fact, regarding the strength it takes to cause a fumble, the dude is the strongest at the combine, or else everyone else would be doing what he does. But they aint. No one is or has. And he did this as an undersized fella as well. SHOW SOME F'IN RESPECT!!
btw, there was another guy who only put up 4 reps as well today from the db group and bout 1/3 of dbs didnt even attempt the bench (I wonder why?). F all u Tyrann haters/detractors. U didnt deserve the greatness he brought to LSU.

BUT, his lack of strength is most definitely a concern in COVERAGE and given that he's a DB, that's kind of important in the NFL.

But, I'm also not going to pretend that being his size and being that weak aren't going to be an issue facing today's NFL receivers.
You don't have to hate TM to make such an observation. And cmon, let's face it, the kid was fun to watch but he appears to be dumb as a stone. That's also not hardly news in college football. It is what it is.

When did DB become power lifters? They are not known for lifting massive weight. They have fast twitch muscle that makes them quick as lightning. They are not fighting 250 to 300 pound guys every play.
Just because TM didn't bench more than 4 reps doesn't mean hasn't been getting prepared. You just watch this guy go thru the drills. At LSU he looked like a blur. It was easy to see why he was good at what he did.
