I have direct tv. More and more my households watching habits are on the Internet or Netflix. I am thinking about turning off cable but want to be able to watch games in the fall.

Has anyone done this? And how do you still watch the games?

Check this resource. I've found it to be very helpful.

I stream off of a roku stick. Look into Sling TV. It's an app you run through your Roku.

I pay 25 dollars a month for a handful of channels I need. Including ESPN, ESPN2, SECn, ESPNU.

I have an antenna for my local CBS, ABC, NBC

The fire stick with KODI add on has an app for everything you want to watch for free.

Find another family member that hasn't cut the cord and get their cable login. You can watch everything through the various channel apps (history, discovery, Fox news, CBS, A&E, espn) and stream through chromecast from your phone. That's what I do.

One thing to consider is you might need to upgrade your Internet speed to around 50 mbps to support all the streaming. We have up to 3 streams going at once with no buffering at that mbps.

If you have a friend or family member that has cable (ESPN package) and will let you have their username and password, then the watch ESPN app is all you need.

Between netflix, firestick with kodi, HD antenna, and sling tv, you can do watch most anything for about $45 per month.

HD Antenna onetime cost, can buy from walmart or online.

Firestick with Kodi is a onetime cost. Can buy on eBay for like $65.

Netflix about $10 per month

Sling tv with 20 channels plus sports add-on including sec network is about $30 per month.

If you purchase on Amazon often then a prime membership benefits that and comes with extra movies and TV shows. All of this combined is way cheaper than cable.

Is A high-speed Internet connection is required for this?
Does your $45 a month include the cost of the high-speed Internet connection?

Skip all that. Google whatever you're trying to watch and "reddit". You'll find links to any sporting event worldwide.

I'd download acestream to make the experience a little neater. Another great option for all things LSU is a "watch tv anywhere" account. You'll need the password to someone's cox or eatel account (assuming you're in sola) or any other cable service. Once you set that up, the watchespn app is all yours and they stream the sec network, so you get all football games and most of the other sports. You just have to have someone that trusts you enough to give you their tv account login. Pay their cable bill 1/2 x per year to say thanks.
