These are all after playing Bama.
Tua threw for over 1000 yards on these teams.

Texas A&M ranked #91 1692 pass yards allowed
LSU ranked #39 1598 pass yards allowed

Tua threw for 387 yards against A&M

This I’ll disagree with. We haven’t seen him run for his life yet. If he stands in the pocket then he’s borderline unstoppable.

Look at that goofy arse throw against Louisville. He’ll take chances and he can be had but you have to move him off his spot.

I agree, passes like he did against UL are picked, that's where his confidence will back fire. But when he's been flushed out of the pocket he's been accurate like against TENN

Clearly you need to watch highlights. He puts passes on target with some tight coverage. Come on, be sensible. The defenses he has faced are not full of walk-on players.

He's the most blitzed QB in the SEC at 35% of his dropbacks. He's quite used to it.

I expect us to blitz very little outside the red zone. Instead, try to disguise some pass rushes and slant coverages (like the Divinity INT against MSU) and drop 7-8 into coverage a lot.

Most people don't understand this or have never watched them play.

It'll be interesting to see DA gameplan

I'd play more of a blitz look and back off with man press on outside and zone underneath coverage. When you do blitz it better be freaking exotic or all out so he doesn't have time.

If you think that A&M and LSU have comparable secondaries then you’re in for a huge surprise.

Blitzing is one thing but jamming his wideouts and pressuring him are another. I’ve watched teams blitz and play cushion defense and they just eat them alive over he middle of the field.

I know one thing for sure- if he gets to stand in the pocket without pressure then he will find an open guy and he has the arm talent to make any throw.

You HAVE to get pressure on Tua or we will lose by 20+.

Blitzing has not and probably will not work. He has the highest completion % of any QB while being blitzed.

Bama hasn't seen a secondary like this though.
on the flipside LSU hasn't seen a QB and WRs combo like Bama. So it will shape up to be a chess match tight game.

LSU needs to make him nervous in the pocket and get pressure on him quick. I think Saban will pull in the reigns on the passing offense initially and establish the run with DW out of the game in the 1st half.

Good analysis baw. Im very very curious to see how to handles the environment. If they march down and he continues to drop dimes, its going to be a long night. Im hoping the tiger faithful can rattle him.

He will get his and when they do score, how will LSU respond to keep crowd into it? That will determine how rattled he gets.

He's the most blitzed qb in the SEC...and that is with him never playing complete games.

I'm not sure what the answer to getting pressure on him is, but if Aranda can't figure it out, then it can't be done with this LSU team. We're really missing Chaisson.

Irv Smith at TE is the weapon we have to keep in check. They will use him to move the LB on RPO. If we don’t check him, he will beat us and then they will start to run it down our throats. Smash him at the line and slow down his release. Take him away as an option and tackle the RB.

Safety play will be huge in slowing down and stopping the big plays.

A lot of there big play passing game is 3 go routes with shallow crossing or double post that forces the safety out of position to get one on one. LSU will have to play two deep safety, man up and press on outside and have LBs show blitz and drop back in zone

Irv Smith is about 5th on the weapons we need to take away.

Tua forced the ball to Jeudy and trust him more than any wideout. Jeudy has to be the #1 concern. I would imagine that’ll be Greedys job.

The problem with this is that they have 3 NFL running backs and if your sending 5 guys deep and your dropping 2 linebackers then it’s 4 Dlineman vs at least 5 olineman, many times with a TE or Hback. So 6 blockers and 4 defenders vs the run.

Aranda knows what he’s doing and he’s the best DC in the country but he has his work cut out for him. This is gonna be hard to stop.

Well he’s deadly accurate and has the best OL in the country.

Is his accuracy better when not blitzed or when blitzed? That’s the question.

We have somehow generate pass rush in our base set by disguising looks also.

Without a front 4 that can consistently win one-on-ones to get to Tua and force him into incompletions or mistakes, Bama will be able to move the ball almost at will. That’s not exaggerating. Frankly I think our best bet is to play bend but don’t break, allow them into the red zone. This is where we can crowd the field with NFL DBs and potentially impact Tua via blitzes since the field is shorter. Then you force FGs, or if Tua gets greedy or overconfident, you capitalize on his mistakes.
