Don't kid yourself guys. 50-50 balls will get PI calls all night long. Most of their yardage will be PI calls.

refs better let our corners play or I'll lose my S&$t. Hopefully this is where all of the bitching about the targeting call will help us...

Tua is very accurate, but in the end it won’t matter. This game will be won/lost in the trenches. If we can’t run or stop the run we lose. If we can’t get pass protection we lose. Simple as that

Doesn’t matter if we get called for PI a decent amount, the secondary needs to be physical as hell with Bama’s WRs. They are all explosive, but none are big, physical, possession types. I don’t think any of the major contributors are even 200 pounds. I’d challenge them at the LOS and see if we can’t disrupt their timing and force Tua into a few mistakes.

agree. ide push the boundries of what's legal off the line and see how involved the refs want to be early on.

He is deadly accurate and very good at extending the play. Throwing on the run does not affect him.

They are very aggressive and live off the big play, lots of go routes and deep middle, with slot coming over middle after being cleared out. DBs can not lose coverage.

I've watched a lot of there games and I've been surprised with how many big plays and just Wide the Fk open WRs per game. Think last play vs UGA in NC, it happens about 3-4 times a game.

DBU will have to live up to DBU and lock them the F down. Can not....can not let the WRs get loose or take the top off the D, Tua will not miss them. D will also have to press WRs and when blitzing you have to get to him or close to disrupt.

I am not sure why some LSU fans want to diminish how good Tua has been. Is it to make them feel better?

Tua is:

Deadly accurate
Has play makers around him
Mobile enough
Very smart

I think LSU can win but they will have to score points because BAMA will!

Those are the four best teams they have played this year.

I'll bet you haven't watched Tua play all that much.

I get what you are saying and I agree, LSU will be the best they will see all year. But don't think for a second that LSU is going to stonewall bamas offense. TUA is that good. This game will come down to limiting the big plays and make them drive the length of the field.

LSU has gone against Defenses similar and dominate like they will against Bama. But LSU has not gone against an Offense as great as theirs with a great D.

Basically a game like UGA/Bama in NC. With out the wide the fk open wr to end the game, which happens multiple times a game for them.

Great summary. The only add that I have is that Tua can put it in the perfect spot to make the ball undefendable. It is going to be an amazing matchup watching tua vs dbu.

agreed - push what is legal to the very limits and challenge the refs to at least be fair in dishing out PI calls against the defender.

To make that happen, I believe LSU should also throw a lot of deep balls - open up the offense and create big plays - I don't think we can "grind out" first downs on a consistent basis and score enough points. Big plays are usually a result of taking some risks on deep balls - we have just as much potential for pulling those down with our tall receivers as they do. Force the refs to throw some flags - if nothing else, force them to keep them in their pockets when LSU is on defense.

I think Tua throws his first pic. He concerns me a little for this game with throwing into tight coverage like he does. He hasn’t seen a secondary close on the ball like LSU will, not even close. That being said, the guy sees the entire field like no other college QB.

Agree, he is so good that his confidence will lead him to take risks, probably giving LSU 2-3 chances at an INT. How many of those INTs can we make? That’s a key variable in this game.

The other keys are:

1) limiting the deep balls (expect lots of PI, but that’s ok)
2) sound tackling when their RBs and slot WRs break free on runs, screens and crosses
3) red zone. If we accomplish 1 and 2, we have to limit them to FGs.

Even if the defensive game plan succeeds, Bama will move the ball a ton and have many/several red zone opportunities. Can we make a couple INTs and hold them to 3 or 4 FGs? If so, then we can keep them around 30 pts and have a chance to win.

My point is that most of Bama's huge gains have been deep passes to wide open receivers. That's how they have jumped out to huge leads against shitty defenses and demoralized them in the first quarter. If LSU limits those, we have a chance to win. Tua will complete passes, but I doubt he'll be nailing guys for 30+ bombs. Limit the big plays and win the field position game. That's the recipe for success.

It’s a lot easier said than done. But yeah not letting Bama move the ball in chucks would be great but theyre extremely explosive and they have 7-9 skill position players that are legit NFL starters.

By that same token everyone in our secondary outside of John Battle are legit NFL starters.

Burrow can def put up a pretty ball with air under it. I agree he should be allowed to throw deep many times.

This I’ll disagree with. We haven’t seen him run for his life yet. If he stands in the pocket then he’s borderline unstoppable.

Look at that goofy arse throw against Louisville. He’ll take chances and he can be had but you have to move him off his spot.

Our offensive game plan will have to be balls-to-the-wall, there’s no other viable option unless we somehow get a lead. And even if we do get a lead, going overly conservative would probably come back to haunt us.

Forgot about Irv Smith Jr. They involve him a ton in the pass game.
