As I recall, the 2018 O line was decent, but not great. Then most of them came back and had a great 2019, winning best O line in America award (Moore Award?). That's what I'm hoping happens next year. I'm no football genius, but it seems that O line especially needs to play as a unit and the more they play together the better the unit gets. Long story short, I'm optimistic about 2021.

They had good moments and bad moments. Hallmarks of a relatively inexperienced group with little cohesion

Inexperienced?? Deculus, Ingram, Rosenthal and Hines are inexperienced lineman? That statement couldn't be more false.

Shanahan improved as the season went along. I’m hoping the o line is a strength next year

The OL played their best game against South Carolina. They werent very good, but did seem to play better in the latter part of the season.
Was it the QB play that led to this or was it the OL play that led to better QB play?

Max doesnt get alot of love in here, but for a freshman with a ton of pressure on him, Im not sure anyone couldve expected much more from him. He played great considering everything. A+ from me.

Im a TJ fan, but Max just seemed to have the "it" factor last year and has won me over at this point. But, Im a long way from appointing him the better player vs Finley. The poise Finley has is rare and he was thrust into a terrible spot. Im not sure Max wouldve faired much differently, if the roles wd've been reversed.

The Tigers seem to be absolutely loaded at QB at least during the Spring, come Fall.....?

I thought they improved. I feel they needed a chance to get together as a group. Shanahan was developing also.

When Max came in they finally had a Qb who understands timing and where/when to step into the pocket. Brennan and Finley never showed that

The offensive line 2013 to 2018 was average at best. 2019 won the national award. 2020 offensive line was below average. Better performance against Florida and Ole Miss. but we started a much more mobile QB. More of the line and overall offensive performance was due to QB play And freshman QB than anything else. Probably should have played max earlier.

Opposing defenses knew we were limited.

It seemed to me that offensive line did not start the year well but played much better and more cohesively as the year progressed.

Sure, but it’s relative. They were so bad in the beginning, that while they’d improved a lot by the end of the season, they weren’t great, but serviceable.

I do not think they will be great in ‘21, but hopefully they are no worse than average at any point of the season.

The O-line kicked arse v. Florida and Ole Miss. Big reason why Max did what he did.
The exact opposite.

Maximus made the OL immediately look better than they were due his elevated performance.

He used his feet, could read defenses, had pocket presence and got the ball out quickly. (A lot of the same things that Burrow did that made the 2019 OL look much better than it was)

THAT statement could definitely be more false. For example, if I added Lael Collins to the group.
