He's going to be playing in a similar scheme in the NFL.

not if he lines up next to ellis. if he backs up ellis, then yes he will be in a bad scheme

In LSU's scheme (and most 4-3 schemes), DTs often have 2 gap responsibility.

LSU is a 1-gap scheme, and has been for years

i think barksdale is going to pull a ciron black when his physical talent is measured up next year

dude has gotten abused on the right side at times b/c he didn't have the athletic ability to properly slide out to catch the pass rusher

So, do you think Davenport isn't athletic enough since they wanted to move him to OL?

i dont think our staff knows what to do with big DT's

HOWEVER, chavis has a history of making big DT's great, which is why i hold out hope for davenport

When's the last time we had a DT that was 6'5" 330, like haynesworth?

I would, look at the spring game. He doesn't come off the ball at all.

Not saying we don't have development issues, but........
Did you ever see this guy in High School?? Talk to anyone in Elton and they'll tell you he never had a chance in college. I watched him in High School, and he was a very talented, lazy, SOFT, football player. Some guys only look good off the bus, but they can't play football. He's the best example.

Mike Detellier on 870am just a little while ago said "he was very undeveloped at LSU. And it was a shame to see this guy sit around for that many years without someone pushing him."

Kiper even mentioned lack of motivation towards him and still incredibly raw, "needs coaching". I found kinda funny how he said that...like he didn't want to lead on too much...

Earl Lane dicked this kid's career with his sleep sessions.

I think you are struggling to describe the fact that Ellis is the 3-tech DT. At LSU, this was Nevis, not Woods.

To say that in LSU's DTs strictly have 1 gap responsibility is incredibly incorrect.

I would say we didn't use him properly. I wouldn't say that Al Woods choice of LSU was a mistake, per se.

I think the mistake was on our coaches' end.

Where do you think Woods would have fit better? Was he even looking at other schools?

He doesn't fit at Texas or Oklahoma...they like smaller DTs like we do. He might have fit at Alabama, but Saban wasn't the coach yet.

So where?
