How does this happen? Their is no reason in hell USC should have down years in baseball with all of the talent in cali.
Way way too much competition for recruits in cali.

wow. kinda lame. the fact that they probably went out of their way to tigerbait them. sometimes i feel like LSU fans are a tad bit jealous of USC
i'm sure the USC players were thinking the exact same thing
Get real...screw the liberalistic "be tolerant and please everybody" approach. Give em hell!

I'd just say "Fight On!" and show me the food & drink.
Iusually give a great big smile and throw the victory sig and most react like they do not know what I just did. One guy said "Peace? For what?"

"I think you actually play those teams though"
That's a result from both athletic departments.....certainly not the fans on both sides

What did he do?

I am pretty sure SC's AD would schedule LSU in a heartbeat if the logistics could be worked out.

Talked with a couple of USC players last night before the baseball game and they asked what was up with all of the folks in LSU gear tigerbaiting them and saying USC sucks.
Aight- here it is: LSU hates USC and ESPN hates LSU and loves USC.

Well Joe Aleva is onboard with it too, but we still haven't scheduled anything now have we?

I would think he needs to change Verge's approach or mindset. With the recent scheduling for upcoming seasons, he seems to have made headway already.

Seriously, how did this get up to 70 posts?

He openly whined and campaigned and told everyone who would listen that they were the best team in the country, and that they were getting shut out of the big game. Whaaaaaa!! Whaaaaa!!! It's not fair. Guess what, your conference fricking sucks. Get some competition going in that shitpot WAC 10 conference. Play a conference championship game at the very least.
Think back and recall that this was back when USC was still in the building process, they had not accomplished anything under "Three-Pete" yet. He was desperate for validation.
Our coach at the time said something to the effect of - We all know how the system works, and we will play whoever they put in front of us in the bowl game. MANS GAME!

last season: Alabama embarrassed the SEC by getting arse-whupped by MWC Utah. Just bowed their heads and took a beating.
season before last: Tennessee. Hmmm, didn't they lose to Cal from the (gasp!) "WAC 10"
season before that: Arkansas. A team from the "WAC 10" went to Fayetteville and dropped half a hundred on them.
I'll give the SEC credit, it's champs are generally legit, but all the SECCG amounts to is a mulligan. It gives very good SEC teams that have blown a game (or even two) a chance to get into the BCSCG. Much more difficult for a team like USC or Oregon to do it in the PAC 10. No mulligans, and generally much tougher OOC competition.

You must have missed the post game interview. I think we can beat anyone...but that's the system..no disrespect to any of the other teams, but I think this team can beat anybody the way we are playing right now. That is pretty much what he said.

Dude, you are way off base here. I am not saying that USC has a terrible program that is not on the level of the best in the country. I am saying that your coach is a colossal pussy, who has little to no competition on the field and in recruiting circles in the area where he is located, and whines and complains to try to weasel his team in on the big game when they do not deserve to be in it when he loses to inferior teams in conference.
The conference championship game is meaningful because it takes away all ambiguity. Most of the runner ups are good teams if they represent a good solid conference. I see you working on the runner up angle, but take into account that when a team loses the big game (Conference Championship) then the team goal has been taken away and they tend to lose focus. Thus you get the Tennessee and Alabama embarrassments. You have to get real about your conference, and be honest with yourself. The national media seem to have finally caught on to the fact that the WAC-10 is weak. USC would never get through a season undefeated or with only 1 loss if they participated week to week in the SEC. Top to bottom the grind of the SEC wears teams down. That is why we rarely have an undefeated team emerge - it is not a mulligan. Every week is a huge game and every team has incredible athletes in the SEC. The WAC 10 needs a strong OOC schedule because their in conference schedule is fricking garbage. SEC schools don't even need to venture outside the conference to get stiff competition because the stiff competition is already there - in conference. The SEC track record in the big game against teams that play 2-3 tough games a year speaks for itself.
