Quite an imagination you have. I think you should just come out the closet.

Johnny had a nice little run at North Texas (for what they are). But other than recruit well, I can't name one thing that I think he does well at the moment in regards to coaching his team considering the talent he is bringing in. We could definitely be worse and actually have losing records, but we are not just aiming to have winning records. CJJ doesn't help his cause at all by just standing and staring on the bench. We want to see someone who doesn't look frozen and looks like they give a shite (and the team needs that).

The reality is that in the time of one-and-done players, it's easier to get some talent and make the tournament out of nowhere because there aren't many veteran-filled teams out there these days. So when you have what people think is top-20 talent and you don't even sniff the tournament, it's even more glaring. And the SEC has been about as bad as it has ever been over the last few years.

You seem to be one of the more sensible people on this board.

I agree with everything that you said. His offense is more one on one and he actually lets the players play. If you watch this season and the last when we are clicking we are clicking. He recruits talent and allows them flexibilty to play which I think attracts talent to LSU because a lot of kids have pro aspirations. He is a players coach which works when you have a team with good leadership but I do agree that this team could have use a stern hand at times due to the big egos on the team. BS brought a lot of attention and turmoil to the team and I think it was hard for Johnny to manage. I don't think this team had the depth to make a tournament run either way but would have made the tournament if Craig and Hornsby didn't miss key non conference losses. My point is I think he deserves another season. If next season doesn't show promise and our recruiting is sub par I say he gets canned.

Thanks man. Sensibility seems to be lacking on this board and no one wants to look at the numbers and be realistic to the state of our basketball program. It's sad. I feel this way about football and baseball too.

When you have the #1 recruit in the country, and don't make the tourney, something is wrong.

You talk about his past and the talent he has, etc. This is some of the worst basketball in SEC history. The league got essentially 2.5 teams in the tournament.

We have 0 NCAA tournament wins since he's been here. With JOB3, Martin, Mickey, and Simmons.

There is no defense for what's happening with the program. Bringing up his history at North Texas has zero bearing on LSU, and actually shows that he's accomplished nothing here worth mentioning (I don't care that he's won the most in his first 4 years. We lost to College of Charleston)

What's the national ranking of his latest recruiting class? Which players are going pro/graduating? 1 + 1 = he's still a shitty coach.

Yeah, I like Johnny as a person, but I think if he is given another year, there has to be some big changes or he is just gone after next year instead of this year. Unfortunately, I think his style is his style. The stand and stare has been there since the beginning (which is surprising considering he came up with Dale Brown). Whatever anyone's feelings on Brown are, nobody would ever say he wasn't vocal and fired up on the bench. CJJ needs some of that, but I just don't think it's who he is.

That's not really much of an offense, is it?

I am guessing you are trolling pretty hard.

I agree that this season is disappointing but I think that expectations were way to high for this team

If you didn't expect this team to comfortably make the tournament you had unrealistically low expectations. Not only did they not, they imploded in an embarrassing fashion and have continued to embarrass their fans with this post-season NIT fiasco.

This has been one of the 2 or 3 most disappointing seasons in my 44 of watching LSU basketball, and is likely number one. posting CJJ's mediocre to average resume at UNT does not help me get past that.

You titled a thread "johnny jones" and then ask a misleading question making it seem like he was the reason for those 6 tourney appearances. Fix that shite and be honest about the numbers, show in the OP johnny only has 2. You want to be realistic?

He never won a regular season title at north Texas in 12 years. Never finished better than 3rd in his DIVISION except twice. His career conference record is barely above .500.

You brag about his "one on one" style of offense and "letting the players play" as if that is a good thing. Name another coach in America that does that shite. You can't. What did that incredible offensive philosophy get us last game?

We aren't even in the top 50 for next year's class and that is supposed to be his "specialty".
