Stealing the bike is his only strike. Taking the fall and and asswhipping is pretty admirable in my opinion. That's the kind of guy I want to line up beside on Saturday night. Busting the window was stupid, but has probably paid enough for it.

The fireworks thing is stupid, yes. However, I'm not going to sit in my glass house and throw stones. I made dumb decisions and did stupid things when I was 18 years old, like shooting crawfish shells out of a potato cannon at the annoying girls in the apartment across the way. Not something I'm proud of or would do today now that I'm much older, but dumb kids on their own for the first time make dumb decisions.
The bike thing is a different ballgame. Stealing other people's stuff is ridiculous, and something you very well know is wrong at 17. This kid sounds like an a-hole who figured he could just take whatever he wanted just because he is a big SOB. He's not the only football player in the world to have that attitude, but that doesn't make it acceptable. Just admit you were wrong in stealing the bike, accept whatever punishment is dealt, and learn from it. Don't come up with some stupid arse excuse to try to justify theft.
This kid is off to a poor start, and doesn't have any production on the field to make a coach think hard about kicking him off the team. I doubt Les will, but I would suspect his leash is short. Event the slightest frick up (on any scale) will probably be the end of his LSU days.
