Can someone please define what a baw is? I've been on here for years and just taken it for granted.

And how exactly do you pronounce baw?

I don’t know if there is a clear definition of a baw. It’s one of them things you cannot describe but you know it when you see it.

Baw is the redneck version or bro, bruh, brother.

ETA: And it only sounds right coming from a cute little cajun woman that's about to light into you for something stupid you did.

Wrong. It's the south Louisiana version of boy.
The rednecks would call him an old boy, anyway, not an ol' baw.

I remember hearing "brah" from the NO boys at LSU. I know rednecks because I grew up a redneck in a different part of the South. Still trying to understand the baw phenomenon though.

Do they really pronounce it BAW, as in MAW or SAW? We said something that sounded like BO uh.

I'm perplexed. Nobody's helping me here.

BS it's not redneck it's South Louisiana version of boy, etc. Aint no rednecks in New Iberia birthplace of the baw. I see you're from Mandeville which is in no way considered culturally part of South Louisiana.
