I've heard this also.

And Northside has had a reputation amongst coaches as being not well coached and/or disciplined. So, should be an interesting thing to watch.

Good luck to Coach Faulk.

Tyson Andrus was the DC at VC ... was on the 2007 LSU championship team. He's going to be with Trev at Northside from what I've heard.

Man my child is heart broken.

What's funny is that Northside was a laughing stock in football prior to Vince (previous coach who was just let go) taking over. They would literally lose by 5 touchdowns to schools like STM, Breaux Bridge, and St. Martinville in the 90's. They might not have been the best coached team but he sure got the guys out to play and built a very successful program over the last 10+ years.

I do think that if they had to get rid of Vince that Trev is the right man to replace him. I think he can keep the program at a high level. It is interesting that they fired Vince for "academic reasons" and hired Trev who is not a certified teacher as far as I know. I hope he is successful.

I did not know this...wow. With Trev at the head, Tyson at DC and Sonny Charpentier's son Roch who played QB in college(not to mention learning that offense from his dad)...VC had a pretty outstanding coaching staff. Sad to see them go but wish them the best of luck. I think of Roch becomes head coach and he does what Trev did, surround himself with a good supporting cast, VC shouldn't have to worry about the future. They have good years every couple of years but it's normal...unless you're John Curtis.

I have the same thought although I wish him nothing but the best.

My son wasn't at workouts this am as he had drivers ed but I was told that Trev told the kids that he wouldn't leave for many places. He feels he NEEDS to be at Northside to help those who have no male role model ... he's told the story before of how he had no male role model until his coach in high school who ended every practice with "I love you man" to all the players.

Kudos to Trev for wanting to make a difference.

No clue on that one. Might have to head over to raginpagin.com and ask the man they call "Boomer." He might know.

Cajun, Roch has been named the head coach. And they'll be hiring someone else from what I've been told. Also, the new starting qb has some health issues .. dx with diabetes. Not sure who the back up is. Was told Joey Faulk but he LOVES LOVES LOVES defense and I have been told by his mom has a bad shoulder.

Time will tell. Of interest, Trev's nephew is also leaving but won't he have to sit out for a year??? Poor kid sat out LAST year ... appealed adn appealed to the LHSAA to get eligibility to play. hate to see him perhaps have to sit another year.

tiger91, that really is good news to hear they bumped up Roch. I hope he finds some good guys willing to go to Abbeville to help him. As far as the QB position goes...last year I remember the back up being extremely small. I mean very short. Is this the kid with the health problems?

This is very good point that I didn't think about. Something tells me though they will let him with is not fair to him or VC since he had to miss an entire year. But the LHSAA is weird so who knows. VC would be very lucky and in A LOT better shape if he stays. Apparently he is one of the fastest kids in the state.

Dozier was from the mid to late nights. I can't give you an exact year.

yeah, he's tiny and the one with health issues. They can definitely be worked out but they're there nonetheless ... real good at basketball and I know he plays baseball too.

I don't know about them letting him ... his family had bought a house in Abbeville. I can't attest to that being their "true home" but we all heard that the LHSAA did a "home visit" and the appeal was denied as there weren't enough "clothes in the closet" to prove that it was their "home". WTF???

I don't even know what position his nephew played ... we've got Coco but he's a junior and won't be able to play senior year due to age.

And who is this Arlyn person?? Current player????

I wonder what Roch is gunna do with a short QB. I guess in 1A you can get away with the option as your primary but it won't win you a state title unless this kid was on the same level as coco.

I think the guys was kidding around when he asked about Arlyn. He was sick athlete at VC in the mid to late 90's.

Arlyn Dozier was a 97 grad. The second best athlete to come out of the school.

That was after my hubby and his brother's time. And I'm wondering too ... I'm sure they'll figure it out. And by "this kid" being on the same level as Coco, if you mean the QB, nope. Great kid but I don't think same level as Coco.
